They were dirt track cars, sustained 4000 plus rpms for a half hour put wear patterns on the bearings. It was years ago, they guy building them was an MIT-graduate in Shelby, IIRC, and for all I know they were stock bottom ends.

good bottom ends down there, numerous r blocks making 500+ on stock crank and block.

stroker and lightened are the only aftermarket cranks that i know of

and dirt track cars probably define durability for 85% of parts used

Being able to hold peak power has nothing to do with sustained revs, harmonics from holding the crankshaft at/near resonant frequency as opposed to passing across it momentarily @ 500 whp, or the oil pump keeping up with those revs.

stock oil pumps aren't made for much rpm's, and it's hard to find extended volume pumps to fit in place of the stock cover

Not really, you can pick that ---- up cheap at NASCAR surplus shops. There's a badass one in Charlotte, perfectly good ---- that only saw one race goes stupid cheap.

nascar isn't really a sport around here. its mostly dirt oval, drag racing, and 4x4
