Little eBay/Paypal Q

Hey, guys!

I just had my first snag ever buying from eBay. Communication has been a little late, so I filed a dispute with Paypal. The seller contacted me the other day, he seems super nice and all, says he's had some medical problems and has been in + out of the hospital. He's asked "if you could redo the payment then I can ship it out to you."

Now, I don't want to act in bad faith with anyone, but I don't want to put myself at risk. If I claim my Paypal dispute is resolved so the gentleman can get access to the Paypal'd money, does that forfeit my right to another dispute if he turns out not to be, well, a gentleman? What's the correct course of action in this matter?

Thanks!

1 dispute per transaction.
Don't be fooled ^-^

The money is there for him if he ships with tracking. Don't close it until you have it in your hands. As a seller it can be a bit nerve racking, but as long as he does what he's supposed to paypal will give him the money. Your dispute is still valid until he supplies proof.

I had my first snag about a month ago after 200+ sales. The buyer filed a dispute and wouldn't close it even when I supplied everyone with the tracking info. I just waited for the dispute to closed by paypal and I got my money. I was a bit annoyed that the buyer would never respond. I even gave her my home phone so she could call if she wanted.

don't close the dispute. people will say anything to get the other party to close it.

Yep, once you cancel a dispute that is final and it cannot be reversed. He is trying to scam you, or he's just dumb. Tell him that as soon as you receive your ---- you will cancel the dispute and the money will be his again.

Re: Little eBay/Paypal Q

DO NOT close the dispute. Once he supplies shipping information the dispute can be closed.

you close the dispute you lose your money forever. once you close it, it can NEVER be reopened.

Paypal is shitty about working out disputes I had a guy scam me for $75 I file a dispute I get $55 and Paypal says the issue is resolved I am like what about the rest and now everytime I go on my paypal account it has at the top that I have a open issue with my account. So I click on the link then it says this dispute has been resolved ---- Paypal they aren't worth a ---- just to give you a false sense of security. >:(

Heh.

I emailed this guy earlier today, right after making this thread, that I had to leave for the day and would get back to him later tonight after I had a chance to read up on how Paypal Disputes are supposed to be solved so we could figure out the best way for both of us to get the merchandise/money exchanged. He refunded my Paypal payment while I was out, saying that he guessed I didn't want the screen since I didn't undo the dispute.

Either he's a really nice guy who's awfully confused, or he's a scammer. I dunno... I'm supposed to be fairly bright, but I get confused by all the legalese and now-jump-through-this-hoop instructions... hopefully we can resolve this and I get the screen. I really want to finish my carputer. :'(

Alright, I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question, but once this guy's Paypal refund clears... if I send it again it's a new transaction and I'm as covered by Paypal as I was the first time around?

The seller really does seem like a nice guy, I just think it's a little bit of confusion.

Eh, actually, I'm about to have a computer in each of my cars... Speed Phreak dropped by the dragstrip last night, hung out while I got saucy on some cheap bourbon, and laid a 10.5" pull down screen on me. 13 pin DIN connector, and some wierdfuk composite video converter box for it. I'm going to pop it open and run the numbers on the chips; I'm semi-betting it's a VGA converter.

Is it really a problem, Doc? I get all sorts of stuff done, but I hate sitting around with my thumb up my ass staring at walls. I'm not designed for it.

Not a "problem", but I think it's a definite addiction. :l What exactly do you "get done" on the computer that benefits you so greatly? ???

No, I meant do actual real world stuff. While there is a certain amount of serious minded internet research or computer based work, it's 10-12% of my online computer use, 20-25% when you take into account offline tuning.

For example, so far today I've done all my laundry for the week, dishes, cleaned the bathroom from scrubbing floors to the ceilling, set the ICTs on Trav-ASS' car so he can take it with him, fixed Andy's CRX (someone dropped a bolt down the timing belt cover ::) and CEL 14 no power to IACV), and ordered another $150 in spark plugs from the local parts store. :6

I also have a book in my room, a book in the bathroom, a book on the proch, and a book in my car for when I get bored with the internet. I normally only have two books going at any one time (one at home, one in the car) but things have spiralled out of control recently.

Eat a cock, you assholes. I slept a solid four hours last night, I have to do something else with the other 20 hours of contiguous wakefullness. If there were any intelligent people to talk to I'm sure I'd rather do that, but those are few and far between.

It beats watching TV, and getting fat.

I think this guy is entirely legit. I just got the screen, but I can't send him payment because his Paypal account is locked due to another disputed transaction. I really don't think a scammer sends anything, much less without payment first.

did you email him again saying you cant send him payment? if you feel bad you can always send him a check/money order

Yeah and I tried to call the number listed on Paypal but it is disconnected. I have the mental image of some guy with no family to help him, flat broke from being out of work and laid up in pain. :(
