Default Lightening flywheels?

I don't wanna dish out the 350 dollars to get an aluminum flywheel, and from what I hear aluminum is not neccesarily the best way to go. Has anybody here lightened their stock flywheel, and if so, what did you use or where did you go to get it done? About how much was it? Thanks,

Colin

Had mine shaved down by a local machine shop.Got it down to 12lbs for $60 CDN.This is the second one I have had done and never had a problem.I don't think you could go to much lighter as he shaved as much as you could safely do.

cant shave down too much or it crack or break on u

u can shave it from the surface top so u dont have to get it balanced again

if u shave it from the back u'll probably have to balance it

The cost to PROPERLY lighten a flywheel is $175, which includes balancing to 10,000 rpms.

the cost of a XACT is $220..........

If the flywheel is not balanced it will develop stress cracks around the mounting bolts..........

Any reputable machine shop will check the balance after there done.Do not let some shady ****** shave it, as I have a friend with one glass eye from a flywheel that let go at the dragstrip.I'm assuming this isn't a 10k rpm race machine or anything similar?
