FOR CHRISTS SAKE IT'S NOT AN IMPOUND LOT!!! My company doesn't do impounds. I haul insurance totals (as i've said 25X on here) for insurance companies in Washington, and do some AAA work. I don't even touch the car until the owner has signed a release of interest and given the OK for me to haul it to the auction yard. When I pick a car up, the owner has already gathered whatever he/she wants to gather out of the vehicle.

I know that the impound companies are shady, as it is unfortunately a very unregulated industry. But, come on. How stupid would I be to say I took a bunch of ---- off an impounded car and post about it (with pictures) on the internet!?!?

My buddy wrecked his car, had an exhaust stolen from the trunk and multiple CD's... we got there and removed the CD player speakers and other stuff before THAT could be stolen.

I hate people like you who steal ---- out of the peoples cars.

Oh so true. And we don't get the call for at least 10 days AFTER they sign papers. Here's a breakdown of how the whole thing works so everyone here doesn't think I'm stealing from people.

1. Car gets wrecked
2. Whatever local towing company (NOT MINE) picks up the car, takes it to THEIR(NOT MINE) lot or the owners house
3. Owner gets all personal items from the impound/towing company(NOT MINE) or from their driveway
4. Insurance cuts a check for car, owner signs car over saying they release EVERYTHING to my company
5. I get dispatched to pick up car
6. I call the previous owner, verify they are indeed done gathering their personal items, and making sure it's ok to pick up
7. 10 days or more later, I pick up the car.

Well when you put it like that I have no problem with that, whatever they leave behind is fair game. But they stole that ---- before the insurance company even came to see the car

I hear that. Like I said, impound companies are ------- shady as hell. I could never do impound work, the stereotype that goes with it isn't worth the money. Washington state is getting ready to pass a bill regulating the industry a little.

On a side note, if any of you should wreck your cars, have them towed TO YOUR HOUSE. Once your adjuster cuts you a check, strip that ----------er down. I've hauled in motorless cars with nothing but a dash, two seats, and 4 spare tires. 99% of the time people are so lazy they leave complete stereo systems in, and the insurance company just throws it away.

Here's the main point. If the Kid is stupid enough to race his parents maxima and hit a parked SEMI. he deserves his ---- stolen. I would feel sorry for him if he hit a deer that jumped out in front of him but a fucky semi. He's stupid, let him earn his hard knocks!
