LAS VEGAS meet

Re: LAS VEGAS meet
I'm not going to be going, but I've been to Vegas so many damn times I could give you a few pointers on Hotels:
First and foremost do not stay at the Speedway. End of story.
If you are really on a super tight budget, look into staying in Mesquite, or another place just out of town. I've done this a few times when I was dirt poor and have just driven into town for the day and come back to the hotel late and night. This definately is not ideal, but I have stayed as cheap as $15/night split between two ppl=$7.50 person.
Fri-Sun (although you guys can't really change this since that's when you are meeting) is the worse time to go, because rates go way up those days. Usually I stay at the cheaper places those days, and go to the nice strip casinos on weekdays.
Ask for discounts. If you're military, have AAA, have some savings book or some club that you're in, ask when you make reservations, chances are actually pretty good of getting some sort of discount.
Know someone that works for an airline, hotel or something else travel related? Ask them if they can get deals. The travel industry is all interconnected and a lot of times ppl can get way good deals through their work and are able to pass these on to you. I can't tell you how many times I have flown for free. Also I have been on cruises for $99 or $299 because of friends that work for airlines.
Check the map of where your hotel is. There are a lot of decent places you can stay in Vegas that are only a few block off the strip that you can stay for cheap. Check into getting a sweet and pililng in. You're just there to party anyways, right!!?
