Re: LAS VEGAS meet

It's time we start organizing this thing. Who has already made hotel reservations and where?

It'd be nice to all stay in the general same location on the strip vs. some on the north side and some on the south.

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

Steve, im guessing your flying down there? If you come down here ill drive you up, Spoon fed, if you need a ride from La, i got you covered. Im gonna look into the cheapest rates at the hotels around this week and ill post everything up, all i need from you guys is official dates.

Donald125 05-17-2005 02:19 AM

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

the only thing i am worrying about is what time and where do we meet up at.

Mike let`s ride together.

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

I'm trying to get information on where anyone has already booked so that we can all stay in the same part of the city. Craig is looking into events for that weekend and we'll probably have meeting times/places for each day of the weekend, and then from there you can decide wether you are doing what is planned, or something else.

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

i bet we can get a group rate if we all book at the same hotel

MikeJ-2009 05-17-2005 05:51 PM

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

That's an idea, but unless we could all book individually on the same discounted rate, I don't think that's going to happen.

vacant_disguise 05-18-2005 09:58 AM

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

you can still get a group rate if you reserve a block of rooms and then everyone books individually. yeah you just call the hotel and tell then that you have a large group and people are flyin in from all over and then ask to reserve a block and then you just have everyone call up and say that they are a part of that party and yeah discount. i had to plan a wedding once and this is what i had to do.

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

the official dates are friday the 17th through sunday the 19th. that means we should all be in vegas most of friday, all of saturday, and for as long as you can on sunday. i'm probably gonna get into vegas on either the 15th or 16th just because i want to be there for more than one full day.

the group rate thing was already looked into when this whole meet idea was brought up. it wasn't looking too promising from what i remember.

on another note...airfare is expensive as ---- to go from seattle to vegas. it's rediculous. the nw crew keep talking about renting an rv, but if nobody does anything about it, it's not gonna get done.

and hotels...they're expensive as ---- too. at least the ones that show up through the airlines. to get anywhere on the actual strip means you're getting up into some good lumps of cash. i posted earlier in the stickied thread that i could have my airfare and hotel for three nights for a grand total $420. that's not bad, but the hotel i was looking at isn't on the strip. it's south.

i know jeff would like it if everyone could stay in the same general vacinity (on the strip) but even he was surprised at the cost of hotels and airfare. it's just because of the time of year we picked to go. and because it's on the weekend. check out prices for stip hotels durring the week days and compare them to the prices for the weekend we'll be there. some places jump 100+ dollars from one casino to the next going by price. and it's right as you get from hotels that aren't on the strip...to the ones that are. :-\

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

well since most air companies are going bankrupt..prices of tickets are going to be high

MikeJ-2009 05-18-2005 12:23 PM

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

Yeah, I definately don't expect anyone to stay at the ritzy high priced ----. There are small hotels just off the strip that would probably work out well. I can't remember the name, but me and Craig stayed at this little hotel for SEMA that was really cool. They had a little casino and a bar that had $.50 beer all day, everyday. That would be a fun joint, I just can't remember the name.
There's a really ghetto hotel just accross the freeway from xcaliber. It's ghetto as ----, but I think it's cheap cause thats where my cousin stayed and I know he's broke. :D

Also, San Remo is an older place. It's fairly large, but it's old. So the prices might be better. Next to San Remo is the ultra classy Motel 6. ;) (Aint no shame in dis game) 8)

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

ya'll better make sure that you get 4 to a room them. otherwise your price just went up. ;) and don't forget about airfare too :-\

i just went through priceline to check out some prices. airfare and hotel (at the sahara) comes to a grand total of $789 bucks for the dates of june 16th through june 19th. (i did the 16th because with priceline you don't know the time of your flight til later, and i didn't want to be getting into vegas at 11:30pm friday night)

Donald125 05-18-2005 01:40 PM

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

You guys are only checking the big glamerous hotels. Start checking the small ones and ask TunerToys where we stayed for Sema. I think that place was $300 for the whole damn week. :-\

Re: LAS VEGAS meet

I looked back at my receipts, and it was a Quality Inn. Paid $314 for four days. Can't find it online now, but www.vegas.com has planty of listings for $80 a night Fri Sat Sun. Thur for $40

So who all is going up early? I am considering going up at least by Thursday morning... Some of you early folks speak up, as we'll probably need to pick the hotel and manage activites to some degree...

Craig

I'm in for that (Thursday to Sunday).

So for those folks going early, do you care if we are on the strip or not? Let's narrow it down to that, and then go from there...

Since I'll have transprtation, I am in for where ever. Steve has been trying to get me to drive the beat up minivan so we can carry a bunch more folks. I'd like to drive the rex, but it only seats two. If a bunch of folks will be without wheels, and we are off the strip, the van could be the hot ticket.
