Landed on Mars...Impressed?

I can honestly say yes...it is impressive. Think of the technology & dedication it takes to accomplish that task.

When we make something for our cars or figure something out to make it go just a little faster, we become so happy.
...and rightly so.

But just imagine how those scientists & engineers feel right now.

I admire them.

I know...What's up with that?

I thought there was some way to get those solar panels to recharge the batteries.

I'm sure they do but only 3 months doesn't seem that long.

they can use nuclear fuel do to the pansies out there... so yeah i think the battery is small..

The company I was working for when I lived in L.A had a contract with J.P.L in Pasadena and I got to see the first one.Well the test one.The real one was behind really tight security. They had what they called a "Mars Yard".I was just a parking lot with big red rocks :P.I saw some cool pictures from all over the solar system while working there.Thats one of the best places I have worked.Hope this one doesnt break after 3 weeks :-\

you mean to tell me in 1964 they had the technology to land on the moon after passing through the radiationbelt in that tin can? in 1964 color television was barley a thing and computers we basically unheard of. common now guys. common sense says FALSE

It was 1969 by the way.

I don't see why it's so hard to believe. Humans can do great things when they wish to. Even without computers (which they did have).

I think going to the moon is one of mankinds greatest achievements....& frankly, I'm quite proud to be from the only nation to ever do this.

Give these acomplishments & people who did them the respect that they deserve & aknowledge that it happened.

No that wasnt a hoax.Like I said I saw some really cool stuff at N.A.S.As J.P.L.That stuff cant be fake.It hapend.I got to see realtime video feed from Galileo as it was near Jupiter. That was cool!

There's no reason to fake it.

Sounds like you have had some great experiences on this subject.

I live in Houston where Mission Control is located. Been there several times....also very cool.

Re:Landed on Mars...Impressed?

There was one BIG reason to fake it, The Cold War. But it was real, don't think that the technology then is anything near what it is now, but it was definitely good enough to make it to the moon.

Re:Landed on Mars...Impressed?

I've personally seen a Saturn 5 rocket like the one that took the Astronaughts to the moon. It's on display along with many of the other rockets that helped develop the Apollo program.

It's friken huge! Just looking at it puts you in a state of awe.

maybe mars has some hot alien ----- ;D

Anywho, people with their gov't conspiracies, they are quite humerous to me.

NASA aka the smartest people on the planet thats why they could get a man on the moon. The reason the computer wasnt in every house hold basically comes down research and development. They had to find away to make something cost effective and work well....things take time. As Americans i know we like instant gratification...but com'on. How good would sex be if you only got one pump in before you shoot your load??

They have this wall there that is about 20 foot long. Its a back drop of mars.Ive never seen or experienced annything like that before. Its so realistic its was almost sureal. The sky was orange then faded up to red and then there were 3 moons in the horizen.

Man...that was awsome.

Re:Landed on Mars...Impressed?

If you study this subject (space & space travel) at all, it becomes very clear that it doesn't require a miracle to do this.

Just some desire & dedication to develop technology.

NASA is awesome no doubt.

I would love to see a Shuttle launch in person.

Has anyone on this site had that experience or any other experience/opinions?

i think that the first time we landed or what ever they call it on the moon is fack aswell. becasue we didnt have the technology at the time. there are some links below to explane why i think this is. but 2 days ago presedent Bush is planing on send men to Mars.if you wont to read about that click herehttp://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...html?from=top5. wondering if thats going to be fack like the first moon landing aswell.

obviously nasa is a front so they government can soak billions into their military defense and weapons development. also they say in order to survive the radiation belt you need lead walls 6 feet think in order to survive. the damn ship was a tin can. they would have burned alive.

Reddy 01-17-2004 12:09 AM

Re:Landed on Mars...Impressed?

Why is it so hard to believe? Its simple science and physics. As for the radiation belt (which I am unfamiliar with) how many REM's to they encounter in this belt? We did have the technology, did you ever see the test videos until the developed the Saturn 5 rocket? There is nothing 'impossible' about space travel, it just requires alot of technology and precision engineering

the thing that they just sent to mars was NOT 6 feet thick of lead ROFL

it made it through...

Seen a tv program that supported hotrex's idea. Lots of evidence to show that the first luner landing was a hoax. I am not saying that they are right or wrong, just that hotrex isnt as crazy as some might think. What do you bench now hotrex? I was at 345lbs for three(weighed 210) about 6 mounths ago then decided to be a lazy bitch and let 3.5 years of work go for ---- but monday I am going back!

I've read that they did go back to the moon..I thinkg at least 5 times.
I even saw a vid on Discovery channel of one of the return missions. But they weren't advertised like tha first one, cause they alreayd won the moon race and I don't think a lot of people would have watched the other moon landings....it would be same ol same ol and maybe boring to the general public...

Colonize?for what?so we can ---- it all to ---- like were doing to this planet?to fill the land with contamnants that will affect everyone in the future? Were a ------- plague that eats away at nature.I know the moon is barand but its bad enough its loosing its gravetational pull on the earth,we dont need to destroy it completely......what gravetational pull?let me answer that before I get flamed.what do you think couses high and low tides? The moons gravity!if we ---- it up were(our species)is dead!!

True Semmy...

Also, radiation exposure in space is survivable for extended periods of time. Look at the shuttle missions or the people who've stayed in the spacestations for months at a time.

Oh, but wait... I for got. The shuttle and all other NASA programs aren't real.

Hey Hotrex... You plan on watching the Superbowl this year? Well... You might want to start driving toward Houston with tickets in your hand. Because the satelite that transmits the signal to your part of the country doesn't exist.

This is off topic but remember the other Mars rover that landed on the moon than got stuck on a rock or something? It was like a 5 billion dollar project that got fucked up becuase NASA used 2 companies to write the programmming software, one wrote they're algorithim in metric while the other company used Standard units. This is why it got fucked up becuase when they told it to move 2 feet it moved 2 meters instead.

This is on topic but you're confusing the one that burned up on arrival with the Pathfinder rover. The part about the standard/ metric algorythyms is correct but it's not about the previous rover.

In fact there were two other missions before this latest rover that failed.

The last rover (Pathfinder) worked pretty good but it left a lot of questions unanswered.

There is another lander/rover that is on it's way right now to compliment the one that's currently on the Mars surface. If it's not there already, it will be in the next few days.
