just installed OBX lsd

I get a screeching noise around corners that comes from the trans. I called OBX and they said they don't make a 88-91 civic LSD...but I bought this one like 3 years ago and it's been sitting on the shelf. For fluid I'm using Honda MTF, and it's installed in a 91 Si trans with DX final drive.

I think I'm going to change the fluid, but I really don't want to split the case again.

The LSD definitely works, but I'm not sure I like it yet. I took it around my backroad (gravel) rally course and my speeds are a bit higher, and I can get on the throttle sooner, but overall the stability is way down. If I'm off throttle it wanders pretty bad above 70mph, and forget about taking corners off throttle above 40.

just curious... how can an LSD affect off throttle turns at 40+??? that doesn't make sense to me...
it seems like the only thing that would make the car move around a lot, especially at high speeds would be suspension problems. if you diy'ed it. it's possible something is just loose or not adjust correctly, and if you touched any sort of part that could affect the alignment that could be the main reason for your instability. A different differential shouldn't affect handling much if at all.

Some LSD's work differently whether your on or off the throttle, the diff could be making the inside tire spin too fast.

Thank Nazi Germany for another great invention

Basically just read about 1 way, 1.5 way, and 2 way diffs. Also, I know it's not the purists way of viewing things but play Gran Turismo and change the diffs, you will understand the difference very quickly on car behavior.

The suspension is solid, and freshly aligned. I think the rough, loose gravel is what's tossing the car around. Then with the LSD both tires spin, instead of one, so all the steering is gone, instead of half gone.

Drained the Honda MTF and filled with generic hypoid...problem solved.

glad to hear it.

Please keep us updated on how you like it. I've been looking into an LSD for my build.

I'm fixing an exhaust issue right now, then I need to put in the traction bars and come up with a shift boot before I drive it much.

The bike is the DD for now, and it's raining.
