junkyard motor worth the trouble ???
I've seen many B18 motors in the local junkyard and now I'm starting to think about doing a Ls swap in my crx. Is it worth trying out the motor off the junkyard ? Need your opinion or your experience.

i got my LS from a local yard. check to see if the junkyard gets business from insurance companies, if they do they usually give some type of waranty with the swap
my swap incl:
1992 LS eng and trans (w/ papers, 48k mi)
wiring
linkage
ECU
axles
it came with a 6 month warranty and was delivered for $1100
kinda pricy but the low miles and warranty made me feel better about it

My local pick and pull charges 150 for any longblock in the yard and they'll even pull it for you and load it into your truck for you. Just gotta look around and check it over before you tell em what you want. There's two LS(b18a) that I've seen and shitloads of sohc but there's no warranty on any of it since it's just sold as a core motor. But if you pull the valve cover and turn it over by hand and see there's no bindage then you should be good to go. My uncle got a motor for his Nissan pickup(ka24) for 150. He just looked it over and took them what one he wanted. They told him to come back in about 2 hours and it'd be ready for him. Their a Salvage/Scrap metal yard to they don't really try their hardest to save ---- since they'll just crush it anyways so it's pretty much just a chop to get it out.

I always look for the cars that are at the junkyard for being hit cause if you see a a car with no body damage then there's probably something wrong with the engine. Like Whitey said. You just gotta know what to look for.

150 is what they charge for the longblock but it doesn't come with any type of warranty and you gotta pull it by yourself, they will load it for you. 1100 and delivered with warranty, hum not bad but is a little bit out of the range now. I'm not really in a rush, I will probably piece together parts with times and also get ride of some of the d-series ----.

i wish we had u pull it junkyards around here, jsut about every yard has inventory or just strips the cars and puts the parts in a ware house. or theyll go out and take the ---- off for you. then try to charge you way to much for the part. it sucks
