Wow, that EF is pretty ballin. I would never take the time to do that but if you have the time and means, that's a pretty unique car.

Decent, but they sound like ----. My D16 with 1/2 or less the displacement sounds more manly than that ----.

civette runs 12's.

d16y8's runs almost 2 seconds faster, for $10000 less

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

The civette is also driven by a moron.

isn't the civette stock? and it is driven by a moron.

Stock LS1 from a vette is 345hp according to wiki, so it's nothing shitacular.

13b would have been better I reckon. Weight balance and high rpm fun.

lol, $1K will get you that much HP from a D

i agree on the 13b, the thought has crossed my mind quite a few times. maybe one day

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

I have the 240sx rear end already. I was going to do it to the crx I bought, but the body on it is too nice I think. My 94 is all beat up and ---- and the engine bay's bigger, so I might toy with doing it to the 94 and put the turbo D into the crx. I dunno. 13b would be sick.

txdohczc 10-31-2008 01:32 AM

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

13b 94 civic and turbo-d the crx. dont cut up a crx

TorganFM 10-31-2008 01:35 AM

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

That's what I'm thinking now. When I graduate and go to grad school I'll make sure I have a place with storage for 2 vehicles. Then I get a plasma cutter and cut the beat up 94. Of course the crx needs a little work but the frame's straight and it's all 1 color.

id say your misinformed.

and its just a mild cam and exhaust work...

God dammit.. that EF is EXACTLY the way I was thinking about painting my car.. until I can fully paint it OEM rio red that is. Even the spot on the body line I had chosen to split it.

Honda's version of big block swap. Still slow.
WOW it loses traction in first gear he says. ---- that turbo D's don't have any until 3rd-4th gear. Turbo D is probably more TQy than a V6 and 2x MPG. HAHA. A big waste of ------ money

Meh, I was expecting more. The red J2R ED looks like it launched alright for street tires but then fell on it's face. Who knows.

ASSuming free drivetrain, misc, does anybody know the price on the street for the HASport-only swap bits? Mounts, axles if any, etc?

And the work to install is a couple hundred man hours more than a turbo D16. You can be in and out of the D16 setup, with decent turbo and good gear for under $2K, tuned. I'd say all the hidden costs in the Civette would break most people. Still, it's unique as hell and nothing to be sneezed at. :y

Sounds like you need to learn about alignments. You can lay 240 up to 300 whp to the ground in first gear, depending on tire and gearing. 23" slicks handle close to 400. 24.5" 500+. Probably higher, as most of the cars I deal with and gained this knowledge from aren't done the way I'd do them.

I was reffering to the last video link that was posted by FrodoGT. In the video the guy roasted first gear multiple times trying to prove that he has a lot of power now. I never said anything about slicks, I meant for street tires.

Tom-Guy 10-31-2008 03:38 PM

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

No, you said a turbo D-series has no traction until 3-4th gear. Since most of them are in the 225-450 whp range, and only hit the bigger figures with aid of a boost controller which can be turned off, I refer you again to your lack up knowledge concerning setting up a suspension.

BoostForLife 10-31-2008 04:17 PM

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

NVM then.

Wank.a.lot 10-31-2008 04:21 PM

Re: j series....who doesn't want a 6 cylinder ciivic?

it's not just the alignment that allows 200+hp to get traction in 1st gear.
bad suspension is what made my crx not get traction in 1st or the top of 2nd. my alignment was almost dead on.

more man hours yes.....but the fact that he did it himself is awesome....and all the supplies to make it, he already had in stock...so.....id be willing to bet that he didnt spend over 2k TOTAL on that project. car(S), supplies, paint.

Dan Phan is starting on this swap. From what I understood the only production part is the mounts so far

It's their car, I don't care what they put into it or how much as they're happy with it.
Seeing things like this is awesome because that ---- is almost unique.
