ipod or zune? need some opinions.

My sister really wants an mp3 player for christmas, so im looking into ipods and zunes. i have a 30g ipod and i like it, but i only have like 1000 songs on it and they get old. the zune is the same price and i remember someone posting a couple days ago about zunes having a 15 dollar subscription and unlimited downloads. so if you have any opinion or experience post up.

The transfer speed of the Zune is a lot faster, too.

I have only used a zune at a store display, but I still like the iPod better. I also have linux and a ton of games on it. With a custom firmware you can really open up the possibilities of an ipod.

I was the one with the zune and subscription. I really like mine. I have a Zune 1 which has been known to have some issues (being the debut mp3 player from microsoft). Mine hasn't had any issues, but i've known people's who have. As far as the new zunes, the Zune 2, those issues are suppose to be gone and its suppose to be a lot smoother. I was watching G4TV and they said its a huge improvement and would perfer it over the Ipod Classic, because of its ability to be more compatible with windows, its wireless syncing, wireless song sharing, and larger screen make it appealing. G4tv made the comment that they perfer the ipod touch > Zune 2 > ipod classic.

Personally, I love mine. And the subscription is really cool but its an ongoing thing. If you don't pay your monthly subscription, the songs won't play. Buying songs is like Itunes, usually about $.89-.99/song

Friend of mine has a zune. I have used it and it seems like a good mp3 player. It has some good points but like anything it has some bad. I think you can use the zune for web access if you mod the software, I am sure you can look into that online.

I personally just have a janky Zen micro and that gets me by.

Ipods blow dick. If you buy it get the ERP. I've gone through 4 now and my last one died, but my ERP is up ::)

wait so your saying you have to pay 15 a month plus the dollar per song and if you forget to pay the monthly fee you cant listen to the songs you already bought? thats a big setback cuz its for my sister and she is only 16 and works at schlotzkys (?) not making much. but the other parts of the zunes makes it pretty cool.
