You're thinking gas is going to plunge sometime soon?

It's $2.92 here and it was $2.99 for the longest time. It dropped $0.07. :-\

If the dollar falls, china's economy will drop like a rock, then gas will drop because the two largest consumers of oil will be in a recession. It makes sense if you actually think about it. Only issue is that Iran is apparently threatening to let a whole bunch of Euro based oil out onto the market, which will tank the U.S. economy.

I'm a finance major, minor in econ. The only advice i can give is that... generally speaking, 3-6 months doesn't really give you much time value. Now if you had two more zeros at the end of your lump sum it might be more worth while.

If you are looking to get into the money market then look into an index fund... but then again... 3-6 months probably won't net you much especially considering how volatile the future economic indicaters are telling us.

I'd say... if you knew a thing or two about trading options that would be the way to go, but then you probably wouldn't be here asking for advice. With options contracts you can hedge some of the risk out and still make a killing in a short time. Its never to late to learn, pick up a book and start reading.

If you want, pm me and i can shoot you some power point presentations i still have from my financial derivatives class.

also, if you decide to go to a schwabs or the like... be aware that there can be hefty fees involved.

If you can't afford to keep your money tied up for more than a couple of years, just throw it in savings... at least that money will be doing some work rather than burning a hole in your pocket.

good luck!

too bad you didnt go in for the quick kill on the countrywide stocks.

went from 8 to 20 then back to 18.35 a share. Stock ticker CFC PA

even the other countrywide stock went from 5.12 to 8.91 in one day and closed at 7.75. stock name CFC

never gonna happen again like that. >:(

do not give it to anyone who is paid interest on your investment

second best short term bet is a guaranteed income certificate, low return, but ass a return

BEST BET : use your money and your knowledge (as suggested-fix and flip a car) to your benefit

Use it as a deposit for property thats always the sensible bet. If you have a house/mortgage already then buy a house for the kids or a holiday home to rent out ;D
