Default installing new harddrive error???

I just bought a bare bone CPU; case, MB, processor, power supply, all wired up, power switch etc. No HD, CD-ROM, or floppy. Bought a new WD SATA HD. OK, so I install the HD, CD, floppy. boot from CD w/ xp. start to load files and check sys. config. then I get an error message
paraphrased

adequate disk space. If driver is identified in stop message, disable driver or check for driver updates. try chage video adapters

check for BIOS updates, disable bios memory options, caching or shadowing. If need to use safe mode..... how to get into safe mode.

TECH INFO

STOP: 0x0000007E (0X0000005, 0XF75760BF, OXF79CZZ08, OXF79C1F08 )

pci.sys Address F75760BF bas at 5756F000, Datestamp 3b7d855c

I'm guessing some PCI bus driver problem, the SATA controller on your motherboard is likely driven by the PCI bus and is completely fucked.

Welcome to the early SATA stuff, both computers I configured with SATA were non-standard as hell and everything was flaky or didn't work until I flashed the BIOS.

Best thing for you to do is google your motherboard and SATA, or the error, and see what shurfs up. Chances are you aren't the only one having this problem.

also, I should have added this. I was able to install a copy of win98 SE. maybe I could upgrade from there. also
I tryed to install xp on a different HD that's not the sata and I got the same message. I think It might just be my xp disc, but it work fine one my other 900mhz cpu recently.

I'll search it.

PCI.sys, bitchtits. It's looking like it has nothing to do with SATA at all.

You need MOTHERBOARD ----------ING DRIVERS. Get your saggy *** off HMT and onto the manufacturers website FTW!
