Re:I'm thinking this isn't how you put a turbo on an HF :)
I got other talents too but there prolly aren't any hot chicks here to demonstrate them on... :)
Wish I had a pic of the nuts I welded on that part. The mechanic who went to install it couldn't tell it was welded - the welds were so small... -Michael |

damn dude, that looks real good :o i bought a 110 mig a couple of months ago, i'm a draftsman, but had/have hopes of becoming a fairly decent fabricater on the side for some extra loot , i haven't even used my welder once :-\, mostly just b/c i've been living in an apt., but i just bought a house the other day, so now i can get on it. seeing people like you gives me hope that it'll just take a little time and practice, and i'll be able to fab some nice manifolds/exhausts/i.c.'s, etc. good work man!

I want to take some summer classes at the local tech college. Welding seems to be quite the manly art.

Re:I'm thinking this isn't how you put a turbo on an HF :)
Those do not look like mig welds and judging from what your saying it sounds like your using a TIG.
MIG's dont use filler rod nor do you have a pedal to control the amperage. Besides the fact that they look like tig welds anyways. I want one :) |
Re:I'm thinking this isn't how you put a turbo on an HF :)
Please notice the TIG torch placed purposely in the last photo as well as the foot pedal in the background. MIG welds look a fair bit different as it continuously feeds filler material (wire) and with TIG you basically melt the metal together adding fillter material as needed.
Anyway, I would highly recommend a tech type course in welding that has a high practical content. It takes a lot of practise anyway but it made a huge improvement in my GTAW skills... -Michael |
