I'm thinking this isn't how you put a turbo on an HF :)

Just thought I'd share a pic of the HF manifold I did for a friend's CRX. Cast iron is nasty ---- to weld. Put the manifold in the oven for a bit and then welded it. I didn't have enough money to buy nickel rod so I welded it with some 304 filler. If I recall correctly this was about 110A and I was giving it most of the pedal.

He's probably done about 5k without it cracking yet...

Maybe I am critical of my own work. Here is a pic of a weld I'm relatively happy with. I spent about a week of after work evenings in the cold fabbing up an exhaust for a guy. Everyone who has seen the exhaust claims it to be a work of art and f-ing beautiful but I don't see it that way at all...

I'm not a welder - I'm a computer programmer. I just went out and bought a MIG welder last christmas and started reading books plus practising. I found that I really couldn't do aluminum with it so I bought a TIG welder in August. Suddenly I had a lineup of people wanting intercoolers so I took a TIG course to help myself along.
