espn2 is filming this new show called pipes. Kinda like pinks, only you get money and time to work on your car before each round of racing. (and you dont loose your car if you loose the race) Anyhow, my boy frankie drives a 98 or something cobra mustang and the show recruited him. He knew nothing about cars or bracket racing, so he asked me to drive and tell him what parts to buy. The realization of national TV still hasnt set in yet, but im pretty sure it will on march 14th when i fly out to little rock for a photo shoot (were gonna be on the cover of some car mag in the south) To tell you the truth, im a little nervous about a ---- ton of people watching me build and race someone elses car... we'll see how it goes :-\ the show airs on espn2 on the first saturday in April, keep your eyes open for me nogs! |

his ---- is pretty stock right now.. thats why they recruited him for the show. We only get $1500 and 4hrs of time for the first round, and turbos/superchargers/nitrous is not even allowed.
+1 for sponsorships though, looks like were going there in a sick new ford tow rig, and cervinis (he's got all kinds of their body mods on it) is giving us a ---- ton of cash to go party with! Anyone near little rock should meet up that weekend with us and party like rockstars. We got a presidential sweet at some awesome hotel. Yea! |

Nitromethane or hydrazine in the fuel, my friend. Those SN95 Cobras sucked, make sure it had it's warranty fix BEFORE the show. You might also want to skew things slightly with small tweaks, and get some track time in on it so you can cut the lights and pull some decent ETs. |

yea, we switched cars untill the show so i can get used to driving it. Somethings wrong with the diff in the back, sounds like the pumpkins hitting the floor from pinion angle. I thought the cobras had IRS though??? Whatever it is, it'll be fixed by go time.
about the turbos- All i have to do is get past the first round... Second round of shooting you get $2500 and 6 hrs. I dont think even that is enough to do a turbo kit, but probably a sc. If by some sweet change we go all the way, we are allowed to pick up extra people on our team and i think you get $7500 something in the third round. A pair of nice ------ hairdryers will be hanging proud under his ugly ass hood. Regardless of the outcome of the show, we are gonna have a ------- blast. |

Well, that is a throttle body from a Powerstroke, and that rear-end came from the crack head down the street, and actually my buddy knows somebody who knows somebody who robs some people, that's 116 octane fuel from the airport, annnnnnnnd I think I fluxcored the side-exhaust with Timmy's MIG welder, the clutch is from Mike, Chris got us the hook-up on this ECU, and the other $1200 we spent at the strip club, oh and I got a new front mount for the Honda." no gay haggling. Its bracket racing actually :-\ Not my favorite, but when i was in high school, my local track had highschool shootout fridays. I got alot of practice there in my foxbody stang.
its best of 3. Not sure of the exact format, but i think we put our parts on, index, and then hopefully go to the next round against someone else. |

Six hours wrench time, maybe you can pull off a blower or turbo(s). AND tune/troubleshoot? No freaking way. Simple shot of nitrous, quick install and quick reading of the plugs and go burn up the roads. Hell, borrow the *exact* kit you plan on buying with the money and already KNOW your jetting, etc. If it's true bracket racing, where you set the dial-in? Might be dirty but will definitely win if you sandbag or do shitty modifications (neon anyone?) to keep the car you know and know how to drive. |

what is the purpose of doing performance modifications to the car if its going through bracket racing? why make the car more inconsistent. like JD said, you should do modifications to get the time perfect on every time. or get a g-tech and throw it in and see if you can watch that to make yourself more consistent. thatd be a cheating way of doing it, but who gives a ----

Ya, i'd focus on weight, tires(slicks) and make damn sure that clutch will hold it, then just cut the exhaust off after the cat, remove the filter, and tune the sucker... |

If its bracket racing take the cash and just throw on some slicks, line lock or transbrake and a delay box. Be done with it. Keep it as consistant as possible. In brackets the more you change the more you will break out on your dial.

Just got sent the whole rule book.. My buddy saw bracket and automatically assumed it was bracket racing. But its a bracket format (like sports playoffs, who races who and ----)
The racing works like this: You baseline your car twice, then the opponent races it once to make sure your not sandbagging. Then you get your money and time to work on the car and whoever makes theirs go faster (avg of 3 runs) goes onto the next round. They will offset the time at the tree though so you are scheduled to finish at the same time. But the object IS to run faster, not your dial in. Im so ------- excited now! Now were in crunch time getting some necessary repairs on the car done before its time to pack up and leave. What ever you run the car with in the baseline is what stays on. You cant take anything off of the car. Stevemode- ill sign your cock anyday |

If it's just making the car faster than your baseline, you're gonna wanna put a restriction into the car for the baseline, and then remove it for the "faster" run.
I'd say clog the intake a bit, maybe the exhaust, etc... depends on how many "faster" rounds you have to go. If you aren't cheating, you aren't winning. ;) |

Start the car with a full tank of 80%91 and 20%100. Dont top off between races...

yea, 1st round is gay. But second round you get $3500. Third round $5000, and final round $7500. So if you go all the way, you can do some cool ----. Hopefully we race some import in the 1st round, $1500 without a FI isnt gonna do ---- on a four cylinder.

well you want to start off with high compression and pull a ton of timing out of it, then for the second round use race gas, add timing, and buy slicks and a gear. Tires and a gear will make a huge difference.
