I sold my Civic!

I sold my Civic!
And then it blew up on the kid!
so what do you guys think about this
Sold it to him, he took off down the highway... about 10 minutes later I get a call "dan the car died"
"what happened?"
"it kind of slowed down... bucked then stopped running"
so I go to find him... turns out he was like 20 miles away in about 10 minutes time
So what are my obligations to him.
I ended up paying for his car to get towed to the local garage, but we gotta wait til Monday to talk to the mechanic...
And yes I did warn him there was a lower end ticking noise... have it on paper and all
So what do you guys think

Re: I sold my Civic!
Then you should be fine. I mean, it sucks for the kid, but the car was sold as is, you both knew there was a problem with the bottom end. This one's pretty much up to your morals, cus i dont think your legally obligated to do anything.

Re: I sold my Civic!
he must be going 100+ in order to travel 20 miles in 10 minutes and for what i know the d15b7 doesn`t go up to 100 that easily he must be flooring it the whole time
tell him straight out that if he push it like that there`s nothing you could have done to save the car. pay for the tow if you wanted to and walk away. but hopefully you did state the car is being sold as-is on ur bill of sales.
BTW you shouldn`t even pay for the tow at the first place

Re: I sold my Civic!
Then there is no problem if you stated that its sold as is...you said 20 miles in 10 minutes? jesus christ, 2 miles a minute is pretty fast, I doubt he was taking it easy on the car. I guess if this happened to me I would offer to fix it at his cost in parts.
Still untill any decisions are made find out what happened exactly.
