Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

big slicks and light wheels, cant go wrong. :-*

M&H 24 or 24.5" slicks on 13" lensos seems like a winning combo

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

I was thinking about getting a set of two BFgoodrich drag radials for my stock 14" wheels...

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

get slicks and mount them on your stock wheels. Don't waste time with drag radials

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

any car with over 240 whp will vaporize drag radials.

my car didnt hook up for ---- wth drag radials, almost as bad as all seasons.

waste of money

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

Word. Find some good streets. Any set-up will pull WAY faster times with slicks. No competition. Besides when you race on the street are you on slicks or DRs (normal people)? Not hardly. Hence why I'm finding nice 14inch tires and learning to drive.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

what he meant to say was "my 240whp pigtegra sucked with shitty nitto's because i don't know how to drive" ;) anyways, m&h are the way to go. what size to get really depends on how much power you're making and what tranny you have. 24-24.5 are really over kill for most lower hp set ups. i'd rock 22's for anything under about 300whp.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

I agree with Mr. Projekteg. Josh is that why you sold those drag radials to me? :-* I ran a 13.6 on them but they still spin all the way up the track.

Definately adds more of a challenge to the game.

nope, it's 150, no doubt about it. and wang would have already got it if steve hadn't pissed me off, so basically he'll get it when i feel like it :)

shame on you

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

well, i was paying wang back, then steve tried to break bad and start e-thuggin on me and say he was coming to my house, so i've pretty much just been waiting for him to show up so i can wipe my ass with the 150 in front of him and then put it in his pocket and send him on his way :)

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

well iam on a budget so slicks and wheels are outta my range right now tho i would like 13.7 with 22inch m/t. I run a 17inch rim on it. I currently have kumo 712's on there but there 2 summers old.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

how much power are you makin?

if its not more than approx 225whp then just get some BFG drag radials for the 14's with a high profile sidewall and air them down to like 10-15 psi

dont know what sizes you can get in 14's though

fork 11-07-2005 09:51 PM

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

mt drag radials are much better, but they don't last on the street

90dx 11-07-2005 09:57 PM

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

BFG's come in
205 50 14 22.07" diameter 8.07" section width

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

Are you running an open diff, or LSD?

Slicks without LSD do help, but the LSD should be your first investment. Normally only 1 tire will warm up with an open diff, then when you leave the lin, the other is cold, spins easier so the stupid oen diff naturally put power to that wheel. Kinda eliminates the purpose of slick. But the still will grab better cold them most street tires. ESPECALLY Kumho 712. THE WORST tire I have ever used at the track. My Falken Azenis were 100x better at gripping!!! Best street tire I have ever bought. Great prices too. I will probably never go to something else seeing as they re cheap and work wonders!!!!!

projekteg 11-08-2005 09:37 AM

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

just search for some slicks on ebay and in the classifieds. i just picked up a brand new never mounte set of 23" m&h racemasters for 190 shipped, that's about the price of 1 usually! and no, and lsd isn't really necessarry to cut good 60's with slicks. of course it will help, but you'll own an lsd on street tires (any kind of street tires) if you have slicks and open diff, hands down.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

6's on drag radials.. no way. 6'es is the record for 10.5's slicks and i dont think some drag radials will hold the power.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

We have a civic in our town that goes low low 11's on Drag radials, it's odd tho cause he runs like 7 pnds of air in em....but it works..

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

Pretty sure the record stands around 7.6.Could be wrong though.

Re: i need drag tires but which ones?

The Comp T/A Drag Radial has been one of the most widely publicized and most successful drag radials ever used in competition. In addition to clinching the NOPI Drag Racing Association (NDRA) championship in 2003, BFGoodrich's Comp T/A Drag Radial set a new world record for the fastest time on a DOT-approved tire. Paul Efantis drove his Toyota Supra to a new world record in the NDRA BFGoodrich Pro Street Class by ripping off an 8.25 second quarter mile at 170.8 m.p.h. With the world record, Efantis beat his own previous mark set on the same tire.
