I'm sorry to point this out, but you contradicted yourself there a bit.

"They may be unreliable pieces of ---- that break and cost a fortune to fix and aren't even that fast"

then

"pure automotive pleasure"

Yeah, If you take pleasure in towing it to the nearest ferrari dealer then writing cheques for the parts and labour.

As for "No jap crap supercoupe will ever have that wow factor, certainly not as it rolls off the showroom floor"

Take a Turbo Supra or Skyline R34 and you'll have an even greater WOW factor.

Personally. If I was out to buy a super car I would buy either a Porsche 997 AWD Turbo, Carrera GT, Pagani Zonda, McLaren F1 or an Old XJ220

lol @ supra and skyline comment

Why, because their reliability surpasses the ferrari's any day? Dont get me wrong, I love the looks of Ferrari but their quality shows exactly what you get from a company that designs the body then throws in an engine to finish things off.

R34 is more of a mature factory racecar than a supercar, but it approaches the exotics in performance but is infallibly reliable. Anyway, rawr is right about MR cars, dynoing what should be a 350whp MR2 today and last night's street tune was hairy (literally, lol). As for exotics according to Joey, a used Mosler Intruder or Raptor would flay all comers alive for a fraction the price.

XJ220? And you guys bitch that ferraris are unreliable? There is a reason that car didn't sell for ----. Enzo waxes all the cars you just named. And the 997 Turbo isn't a supercar. A GT2 is however. Ever hear an XJ220? They sound a whole lot like a tractor.

Ive ridden shotgun in more than a few pasta rockets, its one of those competion comparisons that porsche uses to flaunt the GT3. Overpriced, unreliable, rich man's penis size compensation. Dont get me wrong, I was impressed with the brakes, and the total lack of body roll, but thats about it.

Hand build does not mean better.

i seriously doubt there are more than 50 civics in the world, race cars or not, that could hang with an enzo around a road course

Like i said. Lightly modded jap car.

I didnt say civics. I could give a rat's ass about running around in circles on a road course, I admit I am biased towards dragracing, having been born and bred in the trailerpark, but i do have a slight interest in twisty mountain roads, of which the stiff suspension, rear weight bias, and incredibly wide ferrari's do not have an advantage. A properly set up miata(lol) will be just as fast on the rough, uncleaned, less-than-track maintained mountain road, with the proper driver of course.

It takes some money to go fast, but at the point of spending more money on a car than a house. Forget it. Nothing more fun than beating an exotic in a car that costs a 1/10 the price, and wont get stolen while you run in the gas station to grab a drink.

Last time I checked, which was yesterday, it takes exactly a boost controller and straight pipes to put a 997 turbo into the 10's on street tires. The GT2 does not impress.
