i just saw on the news...

that some idiot in holywood wrecked an enzo. :3
i cant even rememer the dudes name, but im sure itll be all over the news. i guess he was on a test track for some charity event

it wasnt even his, it was the excecutive producer of the movie's car.

and it was just explained to me that, to own an enzo, one must have owned at least 7 other ferrari's in the past.......on top of the 1.2 million bux the enzo actually costs

some people should not procreate

EDIT: i dont support or even care for ferraris. my opinion is that italians are psycho facists-------JD :D

Re: i just saw on the news...

Let me get this straight, you have to have previously owned seven cars that leak oil profusely in order to buy a car that leaks oil profusely for $1.2 million dollars?

I say the car suffered massive failures from being built by a bunch of fascists with oedipal complexes, and the driver should sue Ferrarri for putting his life at risk with their shoddy workmanship.

Wasn't even his car. It was the exe. producer for another shitty car movie called Redline or something corny along those lines. The front end of the car is pretty messed up at he nailed a section of barrier at Irwindale and got the nose up pretty good. Stick to Duece Bigalow instead of ------- up million dollar cars.

No, there's been at least 2 others wrecked, probably more. Another is by this swedish dude that was an executive for the "phantom" game system "stephan erikkson" or something. Fewer and fewer because of morons.

Eddie Griffin OK after wrecking Ferrari Enzo at SoCal race track
The Associated Press
Article Launched: 03/26/2007 08:45:15 PM PDT

IRWINDALE, Calif.- Eddie Griffin crashed a rare Ferrari Enzo worth $1.5 million into a concrete barrier Monday, destroying the car but escaping without injuries.
The comedian was practicing for a charity race to promote his upcoming film, "Redline," when he drove too fast around a curve at the Irwindale Speedway and smashed into a divide. Video footage showed the red sports car screeching before it ricocheted off the barrier with heavy damage to its front.

"Undercover Brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive," Griffin, referring to one his past films, told reporters after the accident.

The film's publicist, Wendy Zocks, said Griffin was "doing OK."

"He walked away completely unscratched, but probably a little shaken," Zocks said.

The Enzo, valued at around $1.5 million, was owned by the film's executive producer, Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection was featured in the movie.

Sadek said the car was beyond repair and that he had "mixed feelings" about the wreck.

"I'm glad Eddie came out of the crash OK, but my dream car got destroyed," Sadek said. "I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, there's people dying everyday. A lot of worse things are happening in the world."

Only 400 Ferrari Enzos were ever produced, all between 2002 and 2004.

The car was the subject of a high-profile court trial last year after a Swedish businessman totaled a red Enzo in a 162 mph crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Re: i just saw on the news...

there were only 399 actually produced. one more and ferrari has to offer something or other. cant remember exactly why, but they stopped at 399.

lets review. these are the ones i remember

erikson wrecked his ferrari street racing on malibu
ralph lauren's daughter wrecked his while racing tommy hilfigers(sp?) daughter in his new lambo. wrecked both cars...
now undercover nignog wrecked this one.

i believe that there was another one, just cant remember

and to buy an enzo(f-60) from ferrari(private sellers dont count), you have had to own the f-40, and the f-50. there may be one other car

QikEnuF 03-28-2007 11:02 AM

Re: i just saw on the news...

Whoever fed people the bullshit about having to have owned at least 7 other ferrari vehicles is a dumb ass. I believe that you had to own either both (as stated above) the F40 and the F50, or either/or. Of course, money talks when it comes to ferrari, so I am sure someone has gotten around it (see selling factory F1 cars to private owners). The only current ferrari model that has special ownership requirements is the FFX. Oh yeah, and there were only 399 Enzo's available for sale because the factory keeps one of every model they put out. Beautiful car though. Got to go for a little ride in one at Sebring in 2003.

That link I posted up there has a nice shot of an enzo scattered across a highway and you can see the block/tranny sitting there by itself. Not very impressive after its had the ---- beat out of it.

Re: i just saw on the news...

The "owning X number of ferraris" rule got tossed out the window the first week those pieces of ---- came on sale. What happened was that dealership owners were buying the cars, then turning around and selling them right out for 1.2 mil as apposed to the $660,000 that they actually cost from ferrari.

One of my friends at foregn cars Italia told me there was a problem with the inner valve springs on some of the cars breaking, and coming out with the oil at the first oil change!!! :o

I cant see paying that much money for a car that will get its ass handed to it by a lightly modded jap car... When you buy a ferrari you pay for a name. Thats all. Who cares what they sound like. Doesnt matter if it doesnt run half the time.

I know someone in Toronto whose neighbour down the street has one. It spends more time at the shop than it does on the street.

How many of you have actually been for a ride in a ferrari? Or any of the exotic cars you choose to talk ---- about?

My old boss used to rent sports cars from a car club. He had various fast cars and only the ferrari's ever made me say wow! They may be unreliable pieces of ---- that break and cost a fortune to fix and aren't even that fast. But until you've experienced the pure automotive pleasure offered by one (even as a passenger). You really have no grounds to comment. No jap crap supercoupe will ever have that wow factor, certainly not as it rolls off the showroom floor.

That crash didn't look that bad, but the car does look totalled.

i thought enzos run about 11 flat. how could a "lightly modded" jap car come even close to that.

i seriously doubt there are more than 50 civics in the world, race cars or not, that could hang with an enzo around a road course

Re: i just saw on the news...

ouch, i really hope that movie does good for his sake or the charity race will be for his broke ass. i seen a show about the enzo on the national geagraphic channel not to long ago, they were showing how everythign was made and it looks liek alot of time and effort goes into each one. hand stiched leather seats and ---- liek that. not liek an assembly line at a ford plant.

and i really doubt any civic could hang with it on a road course but the drag strip is another story, since they weren't made for the strip.

True story not a bunch of BS - My last boss went to the pebble beach concours to try and buy one after we went public and no one would sell him one! This was in 2005 and he said it was because he had no previous ferrari ownership credentials. Him and his wife pulled in $83.7 million Canadian for the sale of 70% of their company. ($96 million a year in sales at roughly 34% pre tax profit!!!)

After coming back he bought an AMG SL65 instead. Super bad-ass (604hp and 700+ Ft lb torque) and he drives it almost weekly without issues - except when he ran over a piece of cement on the road and ripped a big chunk out of the carbon fibre under body pan - ouch.

Anyway, Forget about the $1.2 million dollar car none of will ever have and check out the FactoryFive GTM. Possibly a car some of us could pull off and also super bad-ass. $19,900 for the kit and you have to supply a wrecked c5 or c6 vette to finish (and a porsche 911 transaxel)

http://www.factoryfive.com/photogalleries/ls7gtm.html

And check out this excellent video of it accelerating from the pits and making short work of a 360 modena - "GTM Runs with the Prancing Horse"

The problem with exotic cars is that they're all midship. I'm sure midship is cool if you're an ultra bad ass driver but not being able to brake in a turn, gas out mid turn or over correct with out completely losing the car and never getting it back leads me to believe I'd send one into a tree on a country road after I got a little to comfortable with it. awd/rwd/fwd are all gravy. MR is risky unless you're a damn good driver.

355 Berlinetta, 350 Modena. Yes it was fast, as in top speed fast. torque wise it felt like an SIR with a B16. The only thing that wow'd me was the brakes.
I'm sorry to point this out, but you contradicted yourself there a bit.

"They may be unreliable pieces of ---- that break and cost a fortune to fix and aren't even that fast"

then

"pure automotive pleasure"

Yeah, If you take pleasure in towing it to the nearest ferrari dealer then writing cheques for the parts and labour.

As for "No jap crap supercoupe will ever have that wow factor, certainly not as it rolls off the showroom floor"

Take a Turbo Supra or Skyline R34 and you'll have an even greater WOW factor.

Personally. If I was out to buy a super car I would buy either a Porsche 997 AWD Turbo, Carrera GT, Pagani Zonda, McLaren F1 or an Old XJ220

Why, because their reliability surpasses the ferrari's any day? Dont get me wrong, I love the looks of Ferrari but their quality shows exactly what you get from a company that designs the body then throws in an engine to finish things off.

R34 is more of a mature factory racecar than a supercar, but it approaches the exotics in performance but is infallibly reliable. Anyway, rawr is right about MR cars, dynoing what should be a 350whp MR2 today and last night's street tune was hairy (literally, lol). As for exotics according to Joey, a used Mosler Intruder or Raptor would flay all comers alive for a fraction the price.

XJ220? And you guys bitch that ferraris are unreliable? There is a reason that car didn't sell for ----. Enzo waxes all the cars you just named. And the 997 Turbo isn't a supercar. A GT2 is however. Ever hear an XJ220? They sound a whole lot like a tractor.

Ive ridden shotgun in more than a few pasta rockets, its one of those competion comparisons that porsche uses to flaunt the GT3. Overpriced, unreliable, rich man's penis size compensation. Dont get me wrong, I was impressed with the brakes, and the total lack of body roll, but thats about it.

Hand build does not mean better.

Like i said. Lightly modded jap car.

I didnt say civics. I could give a rat's ass about running around in circles on a road course, I admit I am biased towards dragracing, having been born and bred in the trailerpark, but i do have a slight interest in twisty mountain roads, of which the stiff suspension, rear weight bias, and incredibly wide ferrari's do not have an advantage. A properly set up miata(lol) will be just as fast on the rough, uncleaned, less-than-track maintained mountain road, with the proper driver of course.

It takes some money to go fast, but at the point of spending more money on a car than a house. Forget it. Nothing more fun than beating an exotic in a car that costs a 1/10 the price, and wont get stolen while you run in the gas station to grab a drink.

Last time I checked, which was yesterday, it takes exactly a boost controller and straight pipes to put a 997 turbo into the 10's on street tires. The GT2 does not impress.
