Re: I got banned from honda-tech!
I was gonna pull the hypocrocy out of RJ and watch him ban me for saying I'd punch him in the face if I ever met him (because thats what he told BBKA), but then I remembered I have this super corporate politically correct businessman image that I have to keep up.

ya sometimes i think h-t members are people too... but then i remember there just noobs at life and are scared to think or have a little fun sometimes. i remember a while back about someone posting about a doing a little burnout in there car and they all fliped out saying thats dangerous and stupid and only losers burnout...so plz dont burnout folks there are starving pigmies out there that need your help. but about getting the bike. 99% of the comments where plain retarded and they said they were giving you good advise. sorry i dont own a motor bike but even i can give the advise of be carefull, watch the throttle, and dont do anything to stupid. when what you were asking is there any helpfull hints you can give to a guy that is 5'4" learning to ride.

BBKA, buy whatever you want to buy. I have a nephew who has never own a bike before, and a few months ago he bought a R1. The key is to ride the bike based on your ability, and not based on the bike's potential. The better you become as a rider, the more you can test the bike's limitations.

join the club on getting banned lol
best advice i can think of is get a used bike first. just because youll feel like an asshat when you drop it. and you will. its just a natural thing of learning to ride. also, if you ---- up the fairings, you can take them off and go "street fighter" good luck with the bike man.

Re: I got banned from honda-tech!
I'm just wondering, how do people normally drop new bikes?
Seems like many people say to get a cheap bike at first so when you drop it you aren't pissed.
I started out on a 1000cc Yamaha cruiser that my stepdad owned. This was when I was 16. I drove that beast around all summer for a few years without any problems. And that ****** was so heavy there's no way I could have picked it up if I had dropped it.
I didn't get my panties in a bunch because it was a 1000cc bike. I had been riding dirt bikes since I was little and it was basically the same thing.
Granted there is a big difference from cruisers like I was riding back then and sport bikes. But I can't imagine that a sport bike is unbalanced at all.
Anyways, go with the bike you want. Some riders make it sound like such a huge deal to get a big bike. It's only a big deal if you make it one. Just don't ride like a jackass and you will be fine, simple as that.
Oh, when I first started riding my stepdad gave me some advice (he's been riding his whole life). He said, "I'm not going to lecture you about how dangerous it is, everyone knows that. But just remember this... if you ride, there WILL be times when you think you are going to die... situations that will scare the ---- out of you because of careless drivers that aren't paying attention. This is a fact of riding, and there's no way to avoid it. Drive defensively, like everyone is out there to kill you, because they are."
I found this to be true, watch out for ******** that aren't paying attention.
