Re: I decided to go carbon

i'm buying carbon fiber sheet and resin and laying it down on the roof of my car...so i'll have the hood, trunk and roof in cf...

rudebwoy 02-23-2007 08:40 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

there is a guy on H-T that sells the roof covers , and also for people who want to reduce weight by removing the sunroof, and plug the hole. I like my roof too much for that.
I wanna get the mirrors but I cant find them in power, so I may have to settle for manual.

do you have any pics of your car with the trunk and hood installed?

Good. Now you can die when you crash your POS. ::)

If its to each his own then why make a "notice me" post about it? You're a fag.

Re: I decided to go carbon

why you people seems to have a extreme hate for people who like to have a nice clean looking car?
or is it a grudge for people who can afford what they want?
or maybe its a bandwaggon, because one guy is outspoken with hate the other must do so to be accepted on Hmt. no matter what it is, you dont have to wish for me to crash my car and die. thats just straight up jealousy.

I dont care what you guys think, I build my car for me. but I like to show off what I got also. so if you cant be nice ---- you!
you wish for me to crash my car and die. I am not even gonna belittle myself to wish you the same.

d16forlife 02-23-2007 09:50 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

I never wished for you to crash and die. I was pointing out the fact that cardon fiber is not made to absord the inpact of a crash like the car was designed and the result to your bodily injury may be more severe in a crash than without all that useless carbon fiber. I was just being an ass and sisnt feel like getting into details. Thats why I put in this little guy ::).

There is no hate. Its just that some things are functional and some arent. HMT has allays been about functionality over form. You a long time member. You should know that :3 You want praise for carbon fiber go to HT.

Re: I decided to go carbon

im liking the idea of goin carbon.. i hava eg white hatch that im building up for the spring and its all about weight. the thing is bare, and i plan to go c/f hood, wing, trunk... and ur rite not only is it weight it looks sick too... dnt mind the dicklips above who called u a fag, hes jus jealous cuz he cant afford c/f

MikeJ-2009 02-23-2007 09:53 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

I haven't seen one street car pull off all their body panels in carbon, so in the end it still looks like half the car is unpainted. If it's for weight savings (on a street car? :X) it would be honorable to paint all of it.

rudebwoy 02-23-2007 09:57 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

I am doing it for looks, but in the end I also save some weight. thats it. not trying to make excuse for my rice, I like the way carbon fiber looks.
at least my car is not slow with all that carbon fiber, I did the performace ---- already, now its time for looks.

the guy on honda-tech doesn't sell the cover for a 92-95 civic coupe...i already asked him...so he's sending me the materials to lay it down myself

its going on a 95 coupe. EJ

a little secret, jdm is the new rice ;)

Re: I decided to go carbon

Carbon fiber is clean. i had a cf trunk on my hatch. it looks best on black or white IMO. Definately gets you style points, because not everyone wants to drive a ugly peice of junk that is fast.

McBoost 02-23-2007 10:53 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

CF is cool... expensive.... but whatever.

Ignoring the dick tone of d16forlife's post, I agree that it will probably make it less safe in a crash, so try not to do that.

USS 02-23-2007 10:59 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

I'm glad that you don't care about my opinion Leroy. If you're doing it for your own reasons, then more power to you. I guess I just don't understand why people go the CF route when fiberglass is cheaper.

that would be worthless for for weight reduction, unless you plan to replace the roof.
that is gay, cf is ok in my book, as long as its real, and does something, besides cover something else.(like a metal roof)

TurbodEG 02-23-2007 11:41 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

alot of those covers from that guy on h-t are just to cover to roof...his instructions clearly state "resin on top of your preexisting roof"

J-MAN 02-23-2007 11:48 AM

Re: I decided to go carbon

i like the CF look and the weight reduction, i have a cf hood and made my own cf sunroof plug. but if you really want to sav eweight and not break the bank you can always use fiberglass. a friend of mine ordered some fiberglass fenders and had them painted to match his car, looked stock and were light as hell. i seen a car one time in renton that had carbon fiber hood, fenders, doors, front lip and sunroof plug. looked pretty gay IMO. i think it looks nice if it is done tastefully and not too much of it.

Re: I decided to go carbon

There is nothing wrong with carbon fibrer as long as you paint over it. Otherwise its pure faggotry.

PS: Clean does not mean a bunch of randomly placed carbon fiber panels. I've never seen expensive, high class sports cars with random carbon fiber panels. If they use composite paneling, they paint over it.

the point of a regular street/track car getting carbon fiber is for the look, a little offset here and there. for example a green car with carbon fiber hood , and carbon fiber trunk lid, not a painted black hood like most people do on hmt. the purpose is for the pattern that the carbon fiber has.
its for looks, it looks great on many cars and liked my most. why spend the money for it if you going to paint it? then I would just get fiberglass then.
I personally think there is nothing wrong with a freshly painted car having a
clearcoated carbon hood
clearcoated trunk lid
and front and rear lips
it just give the car color a nicer look.

Re: I decided to go carbon

its funny. you put carbon fiber ---- on the car for weight reduction, then paint it. do you know how much paint weighs? its almost negating any weight loss you've put into the car.

Re: I decided to go carbon

if you just want the CF look then get a fiberglass hood with carbon top layer and you will save money and not weight. or better yet just get the carbon fiber "look" decals and lay it over your stock hood.

And it doesn't make a ---- of difference anyway, because we're talking about a street car.

This man speaks the turth. The only way carbon fiber look's half way good on a car is if you paint it black/charcoal grey, wich no one ever does because they want it to stand out. It's your car so do what you like, but please don't post pic's when your done. Because you'll be no better than "cigrafax".

btw this is one of the stupidest posts i have ever seen. ----, look at it. you knew EXACTLY what was gonna happen before you even posted. yet you still posted anyway? and you made an appearance post with no pics? that is like a porn post with no porn...just doesnt make since. if you would have made this post when all the ---- was on your car, or *maybe* chillin in your house waiting to go on, it wouldnt be so bad...

HMT doesnt care about the outside of your car. i wont even bother to post pics of my car here, unless i was showing a new vehicle purchase and maybe not even then... its just not appreciated... not saying that i dont approve of your appearance mods, if i like that ---- i would look where it is appreciated...
