For instance: 05 impala SS, G6 GTP, Gran prix GXP, malibu SS, monte carlo SS What is one common feature? suspension that hasn't been redesigned since the first bush was in office, and FWD. 300C, 300C SRT8, acura TL FWD crossfire, crossfire srt6 coupes, and fairly competitve, however the base crossfire has 2/3s the power (just over 200) of the Z, so it is not real competive considering the supercharged version (330hp) is only 1s quicker in the quicker in the quarter, and nearly even in everything else. |
Re: I-6 Vs. V-6
doesnt matter when the suspension was designed its how it performs. id put any of those cars against the 350z.
BTW the early 90s impala ss/caprice/ect where B-bodies and RWD, the monte carlo/impala was a FWD W-body manibul was a FWD N-body gran prix was a FWD W-body the 300 is rear wheel drive. the 300c hemi is faster in a straight line than the 350 by half a second at least. and the srt8 probably 2+ seconds remember there is more to "road racing" than pure handling ability. the srt6 has ~40 more horse and ~40 more tq than the 350z and weighs the same. dont always assume because its a GM its HanDlES BaD DaWG the CTS-V costs about 10k more but would do anything better than a 350z. You can't. Maybe they pull a little harder in a straight line. Try throttle mid corner, and you're ending up in the ditch. for the slalom which is more representative of handling potential than skidpad, which is mostly a measure of the tires, 300C hemi-62.5mph , 350z track-65.6mph. Figures are figures, who cares about HP, the 350 pulls a 14.3, the Crossfire SRT-6 pulls a mid 13, and their 0-60 are damn close. But you said SEDAN, not coupe. But I'm done arguing with someone who has obviously never driven the cars he is trying to argue for or against. |

But I'm done arguing with someone who has obviously never driven the cars he is trying to argue for or against. from now on i'll make sure you ONLY comment on cars/setups/engines if you have driven or worked on. sound fair? ::) like i said there is more to being fast around a road course than pure handling ability how many road tracks have a slalom in the course. i wonder which car would win around a roadcourse a 01 sk2 or a 01 Mustang GT. i think its very well known that the s2k is a better handling car, but why does the GT win? the hemi 300c/srt8 charger/magnum/ect all would whipe the floor with a 350z on a road course cause they are too fast for it. |

i said i'm out, it is impossable to argue with someone who has no idea what they are arguing.
BTW, while i work at a nissan/audi/VW/benze/mazda/ford dealership, i have good friends at the GM dealership accross the street, at the toyota/scion dealer a short distance away, and at the honda dealer i used to work at, so yeah, i pretty much do get to test drive anything i want to. |

Re: I-6 Vs. V-6
Haven't felt like driving the new SS line, it is still based on the shitty old design. But you know what, if I have time this week I will, just to let you know how it compares.
What is your mustang? |

Re: I-6 Vs. V-6
I can already predict how the new GM line will handle. Exactly like the old line (and the line before that, and before that). Severe understeer at the limit, strange reactions to midcorner bumps, laggy transmissions, but good at making tire smoke. Basically cars for elderly folks with an addiction to acceleration.
I've only driven one fox body aggressivly 2-3 years ago. late 80's (maybe early 90s) 5.0 GT, i believe. It had a few mods, IIRC, it would be pretty close in a straight line, cornering the fox body was not very confidnence inspiring. Th 350z just has way more technology into the suspension vs the mustangs quadra-link (aka: quadra-bind) mess. The 350z definitly felt like it would have the upper hand in a tight course, like a small road course or auto-x. Left my camera in my car or i'd upload some of the random cars I drove today, totally original '67 (i think) mustang convertible with a 289, and a totally original 63 'vette convertible with i think a 305. Sales manager here likes to trade for old cars :p |
