I can't fit a vise grip, there's a U shape blockage ontop of it.

take the pan off. it will probably be easier to work with. dam, this oil change is turning into a bitch huh. :1

use a tap kit and tap the ---- out of it.

Use a strip socket.
Or take a hammer and nail the size smaller socket you need onto the bolt.
