How often do you change ur earl?
I was reading a review about different oil filters and came across this statement
"Honda recommends that you change the oil in your Prelude every 7500 miles. Many dealers attempt to get you change the oil in your car every 3000 miles. Changing your oil every 3000 miles is basically a complete waste of your money, and bad for the environment. (That used oil needs to go somewhere...) In general on Hondas or not how often do you change your oil? I do it every 3000 but now Im reconsidering. |
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
3000 is way to early imo. I usually go at 5000 since I use cheapo oil. Whatever is one sale at wal-mart.
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles... how is it bad for the environment? Unless you dump it outside... I put it in gallon jugs and take it to a local gas station, they send it off to a recycling plant...
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
i change every 5000 but use synthetic
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
i change it 2-3k whether it be cheapo or synthetic.
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
mobile1 + oem filter
filter every 2500, oil every 5000 |
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
My truck is super cool and tells me when it's time to change it. It usually says to change it about every 6000 miles, but it depends on driving conditions.

why would you do that?

Re: How often do you change ur earl?
I drive a Mustang, it is more high tech than your gay Hondas. It has a built in feature that uses the motor to burn off the bad oil so it changes its own oil. It also has a light like Dr. Boost's truck except mine says "low oil" ;)

Re: How often do you change ur earl?
Remember though Whitey, you still own a "gay honda" ;)

|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
I change my oil when it starts getting dark. so thats about every 1000-1500 miles, and i beat the living ---- out of my cars.. but when i tear my motors down they look BRAND NEW inside.

Yeah I store my car all winter so i change it once right before i put it away, then in the spring i drive a few hundred miles with the old oil just to clean things out then i put in syntetic and that usualy gives me a complete summers worth of driving. |

You shouldnt change the oil right before you put it up for the winter because your engine gets moisture in it over time and that mixes with your oil. If you drive your car on a daily basis then that moisture is burned off and you don't have to worry about it. So Id say to just change your oil at the start of when you take the car out. and maybe once more in between. |

Haha reminds me of one time in highschool when i changed an oil for a friend. The conversation leading up to it was somthing like as fallows: I don't really remember what i said first but it had to do with oil changes. Friend: What?? Me: You know, changing the oil in your car? Friend: Umm... I have no idea what your talking about. Me: WTF!! You mean you've never changed the oil in your car??!!!! Friend: No Me: How long have you had it? Friend: A couple years Me: How many miles have you put on it? Friend: 20k miles or so. Me: We are going to the auto parts store RIGHT NOW!!! Needless to say I had to stab the oil filter with a screwdriver in order to get enough tourqe on it to remove the fucker and the oil was so fucked up and thick it took probley 15 minutes for it to drain. Absolutely disgusting. |
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
i've pulled the plug on a car before and had NOTHING come out. After some persuasion with a coathanger (reminded me of...nvm) and filling the crank case with gas and letting it sit i finally managed to *drain* it.

|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
My old zc burnt oil like a biatch so I just kept adding. 12 months proably about 15k miles on it before I just pulled the motor :)
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
I usually dont have a engine in my Civic long enough to warrant a oil change :D

Re: How often do you change ur earl?
my oil is constantly changed, when it drips out of the drain plug and i add a quart every once in a while
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
i change mine whenever i feel like it with the cheapest stuff at walmart.
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
i change mine every 2k-3k because i can never tell what my dipstick reads because the tool that owned my car before me decided to get an aftermarket one ::), i guess it adds a whole lot of power. but i use the synthetic stuff from firestone because my friend works there and hooks it up with $10 oil changes
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
a new OEM dipstick is $5
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
3k
|
Re: How often do you change ur earl?
my oil gets dark after 3k or so the way to drive my vehicles, so I change it between 2k and 4k usually.
