My house cost us $250k CDN roughly $195kUS and it's not even in the city. I'm 30 minutes out of Toronto where it's "cheap" it's a regular house, 2 story 1950 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 car garage, basement but unfinished, corner lot...nice place.

In Toronto (3+ million people) you can get a shack circa 1920 that is ready to fall apart for $400k, which you can't even live in, you have to tear it down and re-build... it's a little insane.
