i just tell people i dont have time to do it right meow and at most will help them fix it (for some cash). meow that you've fixed something for him, he'll always expect you to be his mechanic bitch for whatever goes wrong. Whenever you do repairs, it's good to have them with you so they can't say you screwed something up.

The gsr still had power steering attached to it. My b16a only has the alternator attached to it, takes me 20 minutes tops to change the T-belt. Wish they were all like that. :-\

Just let them know there is not warranty on your work. Also last time I checked they wanted $4xx.xx at the dealership to do a timing belt.

if you ever worked in a shop you've heard the famous line... "IT WASN'T LIKE THAT WHEN I BROUGHT IT HERE!" and then they try and make you fix everything that had nothing to you before..

there was a shop i worked at where we did a clutch job on a 90 integra, and because we had to special order the disk we had to wait 2 days before we could do it, when the girl came back she was with her mom and her mom was like "you changed the engine you stole the engine.. it said vtec on it before" and i explained there was no possible way because they didnt come with a vtec engine in 90-91 and it was an ls trim... well needless to say i was just a stupid retard and i had no idea what i was talking about..... ghetto black bitches, you try and argue with em... to make it short... cop came, broke her off, ordered her to pay and leave.

Should have told her to pay or leave. If she didn't want to pay then you can have a mech lean against it.

i believe the dealer gets about 600 in my area for a civic parts and labor. Considering the belt and waterpump are about 100 bucks, and the 3 accessory belts are what, maybe another 50? so call it 150, hmm 450 for labor seems pretty damn good. At my shop we get about 450 i think, so call it 300 for labor. So charging him 150 (or 200 if you're good), seems fair. Especially if you can do it in 2 hours like most people here.
