How much do you spend on an engagement ring?
 

The girlfriend of 2 years keeps bringing up getting married. We live together, have our own home.. I think its about time to get hitched. I dont want to spend an assload on her for a ring, thinking like around 1200.00 or less. What have you guys spent/plan on spending on rocks? She wants like an oval cut, white gold at least 1cwt. I did some online looking/pricing... any suggestions?

I spent $3800 for the ring and the wedding band.
3/4 center stone e in color and SI1 certified dimond. and another 3/4 in side stones.
They are 2 seperat rings, one slides over the other.

I gave her my Grandmas old wedding ring. So it cost my about 20 bucks to bring Grandma out to lunch. Then sence she works in a lab and wears gloves all the time. She got a 100 dollar gold ring!!!

I got away with only spending 120 on rings. We had a 3000 park wedding with a BBQ. I even went to the ER after a horrible football injury. I twisted my ankle in a bad way. It still ------- hurts 4 monthes later.

Those %10 or 2 months figures are crap. I guess I got lucky. The ring my gal wanted eventually they discontinued the setting so I got the ring for the cost of the stone. $980 for a $1800 ring. She should love whatever you give her, if you give her a 3/4 carrot in the cut and setting she likes and she bitches cause its not a full carrot she obviously doesnt love you if she cars that much about the ring.

Buy what you can afford.

I think I was looking at the $1500 range, but her dad said my life would be easier if I spent at least $2500, so I did. My ring is the cheapest one I could find at $400. Weld splatter sticks to it for months at a time and adds character. :P

the engagement ring she had 3 years before we got married so i bought her a new one for the wedding.. i shouldnt have but i was feeling nice at the time (as i kick myself in the ass right now) i know im not the only stupid ---- on here that has bought 2 rings either because she asked or just felt like it...

well i bought my wife a promise ring... then a crappy silver band for her engagement(cause thats all military pay can afford while in AIT) but i bought her an engagement ring that was about a months pay... 1200 (still in the military E-2)

But i never did it by some sort of gage as to how much i should use... i just bought what i thought looked nice with the amount of money i had... cause unless shes a hooters chick money shouldnt matter...

but if she a fucken model and she the best thing you will probably ever get ... spend spend spend... if not ---- it you can always buy a hooker with the extra cash you dont spend

Before you ask yourself how much you should spend, ask yourself if you really want to get married. If you decide you want to get married, you should be able to give three reasons why marriage will be a benefit to you. Benefits that you cannot get without marriage. If you can't do that, then don't waste your money on a ring, and don't waste your money on a marriage. If you can come up with three reasons, then good for you. Spend as much as needed, so you feel good about it, not her, you. If you feel good about it, and it doesn't make her happy, then you probably need to get rid of her.

Yeah she makes me happy, see I use to date alot of women.. and even though I learned alot from dated dumb bitches i'm ashamed of it, I was able to get pretty good looking girls though.. that liked to ----.. but they had NO brains, jobs, or 5 year plans. And those were the kinds that I would get in heated arguments with.. So like 2 years ago I saw an old "friend" of mine from high school and I knew she was a good girl, but she wasn't as hot or wild as other girls i'd been with.. I remembered she graduated like top 10, she was very intelligent and she told me she was in college to be a teacher, so I asked her on a date and we've been together ever since. I can think of alot of reasons to marry her. 1. She's good to me, treats me right 2. her grandfather is a multimillionaire who owns a quarry and is 80 yrs old..lol and 3. When she teaches I can get health insurance under her. So I guess basically I had to kind of give up on the hot ass beautiful blonde thing for someone of some intelligence and down to earth.

cute girl...marryable.....seriously take that pic down or you will be mspainted to hell.... oh and just do what I did.....set a price limit, go to a few ring shops (not pawn shops, not kmart) and when they ask if they can help you just say flat out "I'm looking for an engagement ring, and I'm willing to spend $xxx.xx" they will show you exactly what is in your price range and it will help alot....

$1200...3/4 karat total weight..(thumb)...this weekend. :)

My wifes engagment ring was $5200,1.01C princess cut solitare, and her wedding band was just under $1k. The wedding band has around 5 smaller diamonds together.

ebay. Dead serious. Some nice finds can be had, but you have to know what to look for. I got mine for a steal (I refuse to say how much) but its a .57 Ct round cut in 14K gold. and its a very nice ring, I had it appraised when I got it and the jeweler couldnt believe what I paid fo rit and where I got it. :y

I think my wifes wing set, (both rings) was a tad under $4000, but I dont quite remeber exactly. I told her she was only getting the engaugement ring cause I couldnt afford both but then when the dude asked for the marriage band or whatever its called...I pulled the other one out of my pocket.

My fiancee's engagement ring cost $1650 or so, all three of the rings(engagement, her wedding band, my wedding band) come out to $2400 and some change. I'm 27, and she's 17. We're waiting till March to get married because she'll turn 18 and we won't have to have any of her parent's(they're aren't in the picture anyway, but that's the law here in GA) permission. She is due to have my son on June the 26th. She is in her last semester of high school, AND WILL GRADUATE. I know I might get flamed and get called Chester...lol...I don't really care. I have a son who is turning 3 this month(24 to be exact), his mom was a few months older than me and was as crazy as a shithouse rat. I've done ALOT of living in 27 years...I had wild ass parents and I was a wildass young man. My fiancee is by far the best thing in my life, now or ever. Explain to your woman that the money you DON'T blow on a ring can be used for more important things, a house, ur kids(when u have them) education, ur own education, etc. etc. Bottom line is, if ur woman is the RIGHT ONE, she will be pleased with WHATEVER ring you buy her. Not for how big it is, or how much it cost, but for what it means and stands for....that ur content with diggin' her out tha rest of ur life 8)

Well, I'm not gonna rant since that's not my style, but I am gonna straighten out some facts...My lil boys mother isn't in this picture WHATSOEVER...the 3yr old boy I referred to has been adopted(by ppl I know and care alot about) so I guess I shouldn't of referred to him as my son, I do HOWEVER get to see him anytime I like(birthdays, christmas, every other weekend, etc. etc.). He was taken from me and his mother, because SHE liked to get drunk and kick my ass(I'm a man, I won't beat the ---- out of a woman), she went to jail for that and has been in and out of prison the whole 3 years since then, so my fiancee WILL NOT have to worry about her...My fiancee is EXTREMELY mature for a 17 yr. She's not a girl, she's a young lady. She wanted a child VERY badly, because she had been pregnant b4(not by me) and had miscarried that child. She has done alot of living herself(there is ALOT of ---- to get into in south GA)...ROFLMAO, I am not a petophile, WHATSOEVER, most ppl mistake her for 20 or 21 years old...Her parents aren't very much for account but she does still have contact with them...Our relationship is NOTHING like father/daughter...I explained the "ur only 17 yrs old and don't know what the hell u want outta life" to her MANY times myself, but I gradually saw that she did know ALOT about what she wanted outta life, and would benefit GREATLY from having a person like me to help her achieve it. I work full time for a farm equipment/implement manufacturing firm and do pretty good for myself(at least for someone with no more than a high school education/diploma). Last year was a slow year, but I made $37k in 05 and $28K last year. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I make it, and I enjoy myself in the process and so does she. She WILL NOT be dropping outta high school(which is more that what most pregnant, teenage girls can say) and she'll have some1 to put her through college or tech school, when she is ready to go(she plans to go for nursing, but she's only 17 so THAT and everything else can change, right?) I'm sure she'll make an excellent mother(a much better one than the 27(24 @ the time) yr old bitch the proceeded her) and an awesome wife as she already proves that everyday. I appreciate you guys concern AND criticism but I FINALLY have my life pretty well under control. But you can still pray 4 me, as I will do the same for you and ur situations.
