How do I connect my computer to my stereo?
I want to play music and if possible video(teh pr0n) from my computer to my TV. How do I connect them? My computer has an "S-video" plug on the back and my DVD player has an "S-video" plug on the back, but will that transfer video and audio? The one on the back of the DVD says "Output" though so I'm not sure if that would work? My receiver has 3 "S-video" plugs, one for "DVD in", one for "monitor out", and one for "video2 in".

you could connect the s video on your computer and the s video on your reciever for video. but you have to have your tv run through your receiver. for sound you could use the headphone jack and get an adapter to turn it into the av red and white plug to plug into the reciever

yeah the S-video is strictly video transfer. Also make sure the S-video is vid out on your computer. Mine is only for video capture.
The cable is like $2 at any radioshack or walmart.

The S-Video only transfers the video signal, you will need other wires for audio. I don't understand why you are trying to connect your computer to your dvd player? You can't with the S-Video, because it's output on both the dvd player and your computer. You need to hook your computer directly to your tv. If you tv isn't a nice new one it probably doesn't have an s-video on it, and you will need a little adapter that costs less than $5 to convert the s-video cable coming from your computer to the composite signal (RCA cable). Then you gotta get an adapter for your audio at radio shack or similar place, it will have a headphone jack on one end that plugs into your computer's audio output and on the other end it will have the 2 RCAs, left and right speaker hookups that plug into your tv.

I thought about the headphone jack thing, but I figured there was an easier "high-tech" computer cable that I could use instead.....plus I want the video too.

That will convert the headphone jack to RCA's

Re: How do I connect my computer to my stereo?
You're still gonna need separate cables for audio and video, there is no high-tech computer cable you speak of. Your dvd player doesn't have any inputs, so you can't run audio/video through there. You can run the audio through your receiver which will then go to your tv, but you still need to hook up the video somewhere. Since your receiver is only for audio and has no video inputs, you need to hook your video signal directly to your tv. Either with the s-video cable if your tv has a s-video input or with the s-video cable and the adapter I mentioned.

My TV is kinda old and doesn't have an S-video plug.
So I need an 'S-video to a single RCA' adapter for the video and a 'headphone to dual RCA' adapter for the audio? That's gay.....
