Yes, they are the business owners who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year without swinging a hammer. My boss lives a very nice life, drives nice cars, lives in a half million dollar home that he owes less than $90k on, sent 2 kids through college, has money in the bank and a hot wife. Sounds like a horrible life for a 47 year old construction worker. :1

BTW, at your age you better be figuring out WTF you're going to be doing and get it done soon. You only have 16 years to be where my boss is at to prove me wrong. :1

I didn't include that I am a college student. This is my summer job/might be part time during the school year. I'm getting a degree in something that is high in demand.

Dwelling and discussing this isn't worth my time. It was stupid to get pissed off over something so trivial. It was stupid for me to agree to the GM in the first place to do it. It was stupid of me to take an immigrants job(everyone who I work with is an immigrant, so it's an immigrants job) when I should have just gotten the typical middle class college white boy job. I can't say this job didn't allow me to accomplish certain things though. This job allowed me to make decent money with consistent hours and good pay. Because of it I was able to buy a motorcycle and pay for most of my schooling this year. All of that in just 13 weeks. I will also be able to collect unemployment because of the amount of money I made which will allow me to do nothing and make about $3000 over the winter.

PS: Joseph, I work 4 days, ~48 hours. I don't work weekends anymore as well. I make about $1300 gross every two weeks plus another ~$200 in tips. I do okay.

PPS: At least I had the decency to include **** and display a moderate understanding of the English language. Better than most of the rant threads found in GD.

dude sorry im not gonna read all thease replys but the answer would have been simple.. what if a customer walks by and sees me weeding? i dont think theyll like the idea of there chef pulling weeds..

i get paid to do front desk at the hotel but i did EVERYTHING else.. when all i was supposed to do is stay at the front desk i was also pulling weeds/ unplugging toilets one time when there was a shortage of housekeepers i cleaned rooms/inspected rooms vacumed hallways meh i took it as a point of pride i guess that i was helping out and earning my money.. not i come in time in then time out not my problem i dont give a ----

i used to get pissed when i saw maintnence guy sleeping in a room.. or when customer calls me at 2am saying alarm clock went off in the room next door and id have to run up and find out which room to turn it off.. because maintnence dude cant do something as simple as turn off alarm clocks.. or worst ---- ever was kids jumping into empty rooms through the windows cause maintnence guy wouldnt always lock them :1

bottom line is thats not even 1% of the ---- ive gone through and you should be grateful you dont have my shitty *** ------- job

but idk i like going above and beyond in my old job field civil engineer.. material testing and what not.. i basicaally got paid 10 hours for less than 1 hour of work... so id be sitting arround bored all day.. i started helping workers carry rebar and mesh and rolll out copper tubing and ---- like that.. idk u can take pride in it or you can see it as why should i give a ----

I've stuck with every last one of my "dreams," Justin, every last one is a tangible reality. I work longer hours than you and sleep less than you and get straight A's in an engineering curriculum most people around me find difficult, and I do it without taking notes or studying because I have neither the time nor the need for either.

I think having a thousand bucks to blow is significant, after a summer of being sole caregiver/provider to my daughter, in the same month in which I paid all my tuition and books out of pocket, and my bills for September already paid. All of which I made in a period of two weeks while on break from school. I had a couple days where I cleared $600 in less than 8 hours, and a couple days where I laid around and contemplated the infinite perfection of my navel.

"I've always made exactly as much money as I wanted to make," I've said it for years. I can't say as I've wanted much for a long time except to be left the ---- alone. In the last couple years I want a dyno and a tube frame drag chassis to ---- around with, so I'm off to school and will be pursuing my masters around a regular work schedule.

You, however, have repeatedly discussed in threads that you have very little financial breathing room because you buy expensive ---- on credit and don't stop buying said ---- until you run out of money to make minimum payments. To the point you can't even afford a beaten up Civic and an HMT kit - and you've stated as much. I'd like to see you pay off your truck and your bike in the next year, Justin - you make decent money, but you don't have the first clue about managing it. Not like I'm a great financial expert, but it's pretty obvious there are fundimental issues when you complain about having problems paying bills if you miss one day's work. :1



Being a contractor is a ---- in the ***, and you know it. Your boss gets very little peace in his life. Every blue collar friend I have (80% of my friends) have expressed zero interest in ever becoming one because of this, and two are currently going back to school for enough education to become "project managers" which is apparently what they are already doing, only they'd make three times as much with a piece of paper. It's also a nice 9-5 job, although in the summer I imagine they work 10's like the hammer swingers do.

I have very little interest in proving myself against your boss, sorry.

Haha, I already told you the amount of debt I have. I don't struggle to pay that debt. I've never been late on my Jeep payment and in the past ~5 years I have been late ONCE on my bike payment. I owe a couple hundred in credit cards, which I pay off each month so I don't count that as "debt".

I will agree with you there, but he is considered "successful" and has no education, college or high school diplomas.

Yet you feel the need to prove yourself agaisnt me. Why is that?

I have made threads about how I have no money left at the end of the month? Please, use the search function and show me this. I have bitched about bills, but who hasn't? Nobody likes bills no matter how big or small they are. Does that mean I'm in a bad financial situation? Does that mean I can't afford to pay my bills? Does that mean a college education would have changed anything? :P

I think anybody and everyboyd could use some extra money. Saying you have as much money as you wanted to make is a lie and you know it and saying you have stuck with your dreams is crap also. Was it your dream to be a waitress at the age of 31?

Most people who have taken "your path" haven't done ---- with it. My boss's daughter was sent through school with all expenses paid. Years and years of schooling....and what is she now? A waitress at one of my favorite restaurants working part-time making a couple hundred bucks a week. I could go on with exapmles of this, but at this point I'm not even sure what we're arguing about.

I think for someone who is as educated and intelligent as you obviously are, you should be in the exact position you want to be in at this point in your life. Don't tell me you are there, because we both know that's not 100% true. I just wonder why.

The only good to come from me going to college was my health insurance that i didn't have to pay for. That's just me personally though.
Lets take a couple of my friends fathers for example. Highest education was high school. One owns a beverage company that i'd rather not name and has been offered 4 billion yes that's billion by coke. With his highschool graduation money he bought a vw to deliver beer in. He has a drawbridge to go to his house now. The other owns several clothing companys and he sold pot to fund a bong shop to fund the first company. Lives in a 17 million dollar house now. I'm not saying college is bad by any means but if you're confident in yourself and your ideas. ---- it, it's a waste of dough.
Boost i happen to love bills. Amex bills. I pay a bill, i get more points. I'm 9.2million points away from getting a free lambo lease for a year.
