Damn, I just got a carbon fiber hood and the first time I washed it it turned out all nasty looking and it feels rough to the touch. Now it has this gay rainbow look on it and it's not shiny at all. Is it safe to wax a CF hood to get the beautiful smooth streak free shine?

 

use some sandpaper and paint it the same color as your car.

 

before i would kinda wax i once a while..
but then i stopped, didn`t even wash it for like 6 months or so. THEN once i wash it, the whole freaking clear coat came off..
planning to re-do the clear coat soon...

 

I was thinking of painting it too but didn't think the carbon fiber would like that.

 

That's what you get for paying $700 for a hood

I HAVE A CARBON FIBER HOOD if u wax it once in a while it will help the clear coat but if u leave ure car in the sun for long periods of time the sun will eat up the clear best to just take it to a body shop and have them spray really good clear coats and like 2 or 3 layers that way i will always stay shiny. also carbon fiber hoods dont cost 700 u can get one brand new for any honda around 370 thats what i sell em for

 

I would've really liked to get a double sided one. MUCH lighter but those are 600 bucks
