Get the Lexus...but look for a SC300 instead of the SC400. The 1UZFE V8 motors are strong but modifying them will be a biatch! While the SC300 having the same motor as a NA supra 2JZ will have the same potential as its big brother the TT Supra 2JZ-GTE.

With $5500 I would get this
Nissan Sunny GTi with redtop SR20DE .
Or a 4th gen EF Civic. They grow on you.
they're practical....cheap parts...a lot of them. And can swap about anything in them....and they don't look to bad either ...lowered with some nice rims

But I need money first.
I saw a sunny GTi-R for sale...they asked $10.000 for it .
It's from 1992....4WD SR20DET and what not.....full fledged rally car.
When I'm done fixing the civic I might sell it and get a sunny GTi like in the pic. But I'm getting to attached to the civic

i'm gonna get flamed for this but a glhs can be had for like 3k.
if you're staying honda i say go for the early hatch/coupe with a d16- 2k, throw in a new bottom end- 1k and spend the rest on a ghetto suspention and a hmt- 2k
spend the other 500 on cootch.
