wtf, that's proabably the same weight as the piece of ---- board one.

The stock one ain't that heavy, what does that do... save you about 1 pound?

just for looks is my guess.......should go great with a CF windsehild and CF motor CF mudflaps and all the other CF crap they are making :-X

They should make CF con rods. That'd be interesting :P

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

I'd rock it.... so what if it is completely non-functionazl... its a lot better than some moldy piece of board with rips and tears in it... LoL.

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

Best CF piece I've seen is a Fuel Level Sending unit cover for Hatches, yeah the little round three tabbed piece that goes under the rear seat... worthless

shortA25 03-29-2005 10:50 AM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

i would get that and wrap it in new black carpet. Of course, I wouldn't pay that much, so i'll just stick w/ my oem one. later,

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

It won't wear out like the stock one will. If I had to replace mine and couldn't find a used one in good condition, I'd consider it. What's with everyone knocking Carbon Fiber stuff these days? It's the new "cool" thing to do. Some of it actually has function over the rice, but it seems that no one can get past the rice to see it.

Honda16hb 03-29-2005 11:40 AM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

functional cf is alright, this is just stupid. if you're into weight reduction just throw the stock one away, unless you've got 50 kilos of coke back there then you don't really need to hide anything.

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

the stock hatch cover for 96-00 hatchbacks usually go for a $100 or more on ebay, used. a replacement new one wouldnt be bad if you didnt mind rocking CF but my car is too ghetto for that stuff. It would be nice to have a trunk area i can hide ----.

Loserkidwac 03-29-2005 01:56 PM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

Item is made with fiberglass then laid with real carbon fiber
Its just covered in carbon fiber and it sells for $165 + $30 S&H = $195

Thats just impractical!!! I'd rather make my own out of cardboard and spray paint it to look like carbon fiber!!

jinxy 03-29-2005 03:27 PM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

some people dont care that it cost 200 dollars. some people like the look of carbon fibre and like to accessorize ----. i am not one of thoes people. but whats the big deal if they do. obviously you have taken some intrest in carbon fibre if your doing searches on ebay to find things like this. and if you say your just looking for a cf hood. why "thats just impractial" when a fibreglass hood would be cheeper. wouldent fade. and there just as light. carbon fibre has some appeal to it. it looks nice some people dont think about "how is this going to effect the preformance of my ride" every time they make a purchase. i mean yeah its pretty dumb, but there just trying to make there money off this carbon fibre thing like everyone else is.

Xgenturbo 03-29-2005 03:47 PM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

I actually like it and if I was wealthy i'd probably get one, You can actually put ---- on it if youre going on a trip without worying that its gonna warp or bend, so it actually has some function to it, and it looks good. some of you guys have lost it when it comes to what is rice and what is not rice, maybe some people like to have nice looking cars and not piece of ---- beates like some of us on here dohttp://astro.temple.edu/~mattdip/CRXAva.jpg, hey I dont care how it looks, as long as it has a turbo to back up the ugliness.
Nothing is wrong with a CF trunk cover, its probably the least ricey thing you could do to the interior of your car.

Oh yeah, I have a 4 inch exhaust tip, you can all suck my balls if you dont like it.

Loserkidwac 03-29-2005 04:35 PM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

My car looks like ---- cause I'd rather put my money on things to make it run better and faster oh and i do have a turbo to back up the uglyness. The piece of ---- has 1 layer or carbon fiber and is made out of fiber glass it would probably break if you put anything heavy on it, I doubt it is any stornger than the stock one and it will look ugly with a stock interior unless your rice mobile already has the carbon fiber dash trim!?!? You can suck my balls this is ridiculas if you think it is even worth the money. Oh yea it popped up when I was looking for parts for my crx, I don't look for carbon fiber cause my car isn't a race car or rice.

Anyways I just was on a rant, I could careless anymore, someone out there is make a ton of money off some stupid ricers...

Xgenturbo 03-29-2005 05:08 PM

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

Actually I wasnt calling your car a piece of ----, but its not nice looking, just spend $50 at a parts store and get some spray can automotive paint and paint it all one color, it will look much better.

I was just all in a fuss cause...I don't even know, I was thinking about just getting the maco paint job this summer justs o it was one color

You might as well do what i'm planning, go get 10-12 cans of automotive body spray paint of the color you want, and prep your car, tape off all mouldings and windows and spray it, then borrow a compressor, buy good clear coat and buy a cheap spray gun and clear coat the paint, I promise you its better than maco and at least you know youre doing it right and your mouldings wont get painted over.

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

I was considering that I have a huge air compressor so i just need to get a spray gun, But i don't really have a place to do it other than in the drive way or in the garge, but there isn't a ton of room there either :-\

Well then do what i'm going to do, go buy a bunch of copper water pipes, theyre cheap, and a few square feet of blue tarp, and build yourself a temporary spray booth in your driveway. ;)

hmm...dosen't sound like a bad idea, maybe I'll put some more thought into this, thanks for the ideas

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

I think that it is a little expensive at $165, but the material for the back cover is kinda pointless. If I needed a new one I would just throw whatever fit well back there that was tougher than the fiber board stuff.

I wish they made one like the accord wagons. They have a retractable vinyl cover. Very nice, when you wanna haul tall stuff, you can just let it roll up like a window shade.

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

eh, i would think about getting it if the hinges were not visible. i lvoe my full interior, its much cleaner looking, but my stock one is starteing to tear at the edges of the hinge. Ill probably just get it reuhpolstered(sp?).

PoorMansPorsche 03-30-2005 10:50 AM

yeah.. my hinges on the oem cargo cover ate ----.. I relplaced them in an almost identical way to the hinges on that cf.. btw.. I would get one if it was 80 bucks. call me a ricer and your mom will get the dry food tonight instead of the wet.. you know how that bitch loves the wet food.

Some people are funny.... so you don't invest anything to make the car look good, but you'll invest everything just to make it go faster and supposedly run better? LoL... man, i'm glad i outgrew that. Hell, even with my race car it has to look good as well as function. If you're so 'hardcore' about function over form, why are you even running a hood, or fenders, or carpet, or bumper COVERS... cause the bumper is under the covers, they are just there for looks....

There is just something sexy about a car with all that interior crap, that looks good, is clean, and can still wipe up on most cars out there on the track or street.

Damn, i miss my car.

http://www.RPIracing.com/ComposiMo/BBT_cool.jpg

Full interior (even nice floor mats), stock B16A engine with a mild turbo kit on it, ran a best time of 12.08 @ 117mph in complete street trim (running slicks though of course), on pump gas. Some day you 'function over form' guys will wake up and realize that having an interior and having a nice looking car really is a nice thing to have... hehe.

Re: Honda CRX carbon fiber trunk cover

lol no.

thats why i have 2 cars. I dun rip out my interiors, but i do remove some of the stuff i don't use. Why get rid of the hood/fenders/ect because they're already there. Why NOT get a body kit? because its a cheap aftermarket part that will never meet oem quality.

LoL.... i had to figure out a way to fit that biatch in there ya know... heh. But those floor mats were the ---- man... hehehe.

For some reason i got a kick out of having a car that looked like that, with the unpainted body kit (yes everyone, that WAS on purpose), and yet still have it go to the track and do what it could do... made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.. hehe.

But alas.... i'm now building a truck that'll take the place of my poor CRX... can you say daily driven 500whp+ Toyota Tacoma that only weighs about 250lbs more than my CRX did? :) Widebody rear and all... Yea, its almost out of the body shop (finally). Then its on to making it look right (wheels/lowering/graphics/tint/stereo), and then the motor and goodies get swapped in that i have sitting here....and then when i really want to go fast, i'll have my race car :o

I like nice looking cars and all but graphics on anything other then a race car is still shitty to me.. any how.. get pictures up of all the new stuff.. and post it here first not homo h-t
