Homemade GSXR Exhaust
6 Attachment(s)
The first time I found out my bike had a cat on it I wanted to chop it off. So I finally got around to doing it. Here's the stock exhaust and cat:
Attachment 18122 Jig'd up and cut: Attachment 18123 Mocked up: Attachment 18124 Final product: Attachment 18125 And finally mounted on the bike: Attachment 18126 Attachment 18127 Definitely sounds a million times better. It actually has a sound instead of like a corked up motor ready to explode. I also took 10lbs off the bike and saved $500 from buying an aftermarket slipon that gives the same performance gains. I really liked the look of the stock pipe so I'm glad I don't need to get a gay looking slip on. Also since I sold the cat to the scrapyard for $20.00 I actually got paid to do this. There's also nothing like a homemade exhaust. :y That is all. |

Slipon's only gain like 3 to 5 Hp so I think any gains are in your head since its tough to tell. However it did seem to smooth out the thottle more and it does seem a little quicker. Definitely better than stock hands down |

Definitely better than stock hands down and you know that it's running really lean now and will burn itself up if you don't put a dynojet programer on it to ritchen it up and with a slipon and velocity stacks i have seen dyno proven 10+whp but that was with someone doing a dyno tune no just a programer |

Ultimately the manufacturers will be responsible for selecting how to distribute the use of various technologies among their motorcycle models. Are motorcycles a less-polluting alternative to cars? No, in fact, motorcycles produce more harmful emissions per mile than a car or even a large SUV. The current federal motorcycle standard for hydrocarbon emissions is about 90 times the hydrocarbon standard for today’s passenger cars. And when new emission standards go into effect, SUVs will be about 95 percent cleaner than today’s motorcycle. Nice work whitey |

Re: Homemade GSXR Exhaust
I'm thinking about doing an exhaust for my bike, except I'd do mine for fuel economy. It came with some gay aftermarket can and now I'm lucky to get 45mpg when stock you get like 52mpg. 7mpg for like 8hp, no thank you.

i mean just a pipe to gain 8hp and loose 7mpg is allot only bikes i can think of that are that plugged up from the factory are harleys witch only have like 45hp from the factory but a filter, slipon, and ecu flash gets you to arround 65hp but they get like 45mpg from the factory and the mods don't hurt more than 2-3mpg |

Where do you base your information? |

Only difference from freeing up exhaust should be better throttle response and a little more power from not having to be pushed through the cat...
8hp isn't going to cost another 7mpg. Where do you base your information? but yes freeing up the exhaust dose make you burn more gas thats why on a carbed bike or car when you open up the exhaust or air filter it runs leaner than optimal so you have to ritchen it up to be stoich and at that point since you are putting more fuel in the engine the millage will go down but again not that much |

Nope, all newer bikes are going to have cat's. The California GSXR's do have more emission stuff than just a cat. |

Pretty typical for 99-02 SV650's... I'm going to get my bike serviced in the next week. My carb could need adjusting which could cause some issues, but typically people see about 50+mpg doing my type of riding and I see about 45mpg. |
Re: Homemade GSXR Exhaust
damn i love your garage. always looks like a showroom floor
nice work on the exhaust |
