Home Made lips

Well after having an accident, I'm going all stock bumpers. My car needs a more aggresive look like lips or something. Has anybody ever done some? Maybe with fiberglass, a sheet of metal or something? Also will the 1992-1995 Civic HB lips fit into the CRX (I know it will need some modification), but has anybody tried it?

From my experience working at a bodykit manufacturer, I would say make exactly what you want out of wood. (cheap and easy to work with) Once you get it perfect, coat it with something that will allow you to cover it in fiberglass and still be able to seperate the wood from the fiberglass. They have some toxic chemical that does this, but I don't remember the name. There should be more than one. ;)

Don't waste your money on the seperation chemicals, use aluminium foil. Put two layers on the wood, the fibreglass will come right off.

So the piece of wood would be the mold right? But how will I get the wood to curve around the bumper? I was thinking of using a sheet of metal since its more flexiable than wood. Anymore ideas? Thanx

lol...You would need to carve the wood man, not bend it ;)

hehe, there is a whole lot more to it then that, doing it fully custom and not making it off of another piece should take you at least 100 hours to do, and will cost you more in materials then buying a new bumper. unless you want it to look dumb, in which case do it. remember, a male mold will make a pretty inside, a female mold will make a pretty outside, don't forget to account for mold to mold tolerances (there's gonna be an extra 1/8" in there of fiberglass, and DO NOT USE WOOD. use foam, it'll be way more manageable and come out better.
