help. oil filter not coming off.

ok. my 94 gmc jimmy. underhood oil filter. i bought this car, looks like it hasnt had an oil change in its life. the plug on the oil pan was a bitch to remove. took several shots of pb blast. and wd40 to get the bitch off. which then revealed the thickest. blackest oil. ive ever seen in my life.

so i drain it. pop the hood. remove the airbox. fit the filter remover arround the oil filter. and im pulling. and the bitch wont nudge. so i grit my teeth. and give it a nice big hard yank. and the fucker bends at the bottom. and still wouldnt come off.

there are delicate hoses all arround the oil cooler. so i dont want to bother with taking the oil cooler off. to get the filter off of it. i tried pb blast and wd 40 as far arround the rim as i could go. but it still wouldnt work. now there is a big dent in the bottom of it. and i kept trying. and it still wouldnt ------- nudge.

how the ---- do i get this bitch off? ive never even had to use a filter remover before. on all my cars i just put some oil arround the rim. and hand tighten em. why the ---- couldnt the last person who did this oil change have done that?

CLIFFNOTES johnny style.

i got an oil filter thats stuck, tried the oil filter remover w/ wd40 and pb blast. still wouldnt nudge. ended up bending the oil filter. help.

Re: help. oil filter not coming off.

I had this problem on my Challenger, my solution was a little messy but it worked. I took a long screw driver, and stabbed it through the filter with a hammer, and that gave me the leverage to break it free while using a hammer to tap on the end of the screw driver to break it loose, just be careful if this is the route you decide to take! Good Luck

if you cant get it see if your mom/little sister will help, maybe you could hold her purse.

realy though you might have to pull the oil filter adapter and put it in a vise so you can really get on it. They come out real easy, I have even cut filters apart and knoked the top off with a cold chisle in the holes around the big return one.

stick a screw driver in and use it as leverage like they said.

Had this problem before...first is the motor warm? Usually they are tight do to expansion and if you let it cool off it might break loose easier, if thats not the proble try the screw driver, just tap it through the side and see if you can break it loose....I had one so stuck that the screw driver just cut through the filter and I ended up removing everything but the plate the threads onto the block and then I just used the screw driver and put it in a whole that was on the "bottom" and tapped it till it came loose...sounds like highroller had to do that before too, thats not the fun way...good luck
