Well now that Im boosted my engine bay gats way too hot!Even running the fan on a manuel switch doesnt really seem to help much in trafic.

Ok.I think I want a carbon fiber hood with vents.NOT A SCOP.Is this ricey?Im doing it for function and form.

what to choose?

I think a really big wing would help out alot. :P

I would think of something else to lower underhood temps. :-\

What?Get rid of the turbo :P?

Well Im going to be getting a Flexalite or Permacool fan but with the I.C up front it seems like it slows down the airflow regardless.Im just looking at imrpoving airflow :-\.

I think they all look like ass, but that's just my worthless opinion. :P If you're going to get a CF hood, just get one with no scoops, but I guess that defeats the purpose of you buying the hood in the first place. I would rig some vent pipes to bring air into the engine bay. I know you can work magic with PVC. Kinda like how they do it in Nascar.

You could also get some Z3 fenders. That would help cool things down. I think Danny might sell you his. :P

If you want to lower under hood temps go with the first one. It isn't the best looking one but it sure has a big opening. I read that many people have put these on there car cuz they have an under hood IC. The reason is air can't go in if it can't get out. It would help alot. Abot the fans. My friend bought a High flow fan from oreillys for 60 bucks and it real thin and flows good. The FAL fans and others are just a waste of money. Plus they are black and you don't notice them as much. My Thoughts.

I'd say get a fluidyne radiator. Try anything before becoming a rice boy. (that header wrap ----, maybe work?)

hmmmm try this... go to ace hardware... remove one of the bolts the holds the hood to the hinge... and tell the guy at the counter you want that exact same bolt but a little bit longer... not too long... about 1inch longer (buy 4 of them).... then buy a ---- load of washers...

now run the bolt through the hinge apply the buttload of washers evenly between the hinge and the hood... this will cause the hood to be a bit raised from stock configurations... allowing hot air to escape.... looks weird but works...

I might have to try that long bolt trick just because it would be funny and my hood doesn't open without me reaching in there anyways. would that trick affect how easily the hood opens?

Just cut some vents in our hood and cover them with some mesh. Also run some pipe from the front to the turbo and you will be fine. Dont waste your money on the CF hood.

if u really want a cf hood get a oem style in order to prevent being classified as a rice boy. ::)

lowering underhood temps is totally unessary. just make sure that

1) your cooling system is working properly
2) you intercooler is a decent size
3) your intake pipe is in a position where it can draw in cool air.

there are four little bombs going off repeatedly under your hood, there is no whay your gonna lower the temps signifigantly by slapping on a hood made by riceboys for riceboys.

I'll have a write up on that homemade hood venting system using long bolts and washers by the end of the month, it will come righ after my write up on how not do an atf flush of the engine.

I dunno know, since heat rises and you are looking for function, i think this is your best bet

But if you wanna get some real cooling power get an sti scoop, and no a wrx scoop won't cut it, sti scoop is much bigger ;). But now that I think about it, since you are going for function, you might as well get a scoop.

I like the one with the One big scoop going backwards. But If I were you, get the one you like and don't give a crap on what anyone else says, your the one dirving it, everyone has their own styles and no matter what you do, someone is either going to love it or flame you. IMO

i agree with this idea. you can get one of those FAL fans also to help. :) adding a turbo really shouldnt be making your car over heat unless their are other issues going on right?

The first thing that came to mind was the bolt thing. Just like aircooled-beetle style. Works for them, ought to work for you (if you actually care and aren't just looking for a CF excuse...)

I think the 3rd, 4th, and 5th hood may go down too far into the engine bay and may hit your turbo, wastegate, etc. Unless it is low. I seen a hood like the two that look simular on a car last summer, I wanted one until I seen it, looks to set down too far and may hit that ---- :-\

First two look fine to me, but doesn't CF have a tendency to loose it's shape under high temperatures ??? I am probably wrong but I seen a few CF hoods with ripples in them and the owners told me this is what happened....

the vent on the hood i have doesnt go down. its actually even with normal hood, but it goes up as it aproches the vent.
