Help me choose a bike...

Re: Help me choose a bike...
If your careful you might not drop your bike. I bought a brand new bike as my first bike and don't regret it. Never dropped it didn't get bored but I'm kind of small. To choose the right bike for you, sit on all of them and find the least uncomfortable bike of them all. They are all fast, they all look fast, and none of them are comfortable. If you plan on doing any longer cruises you WILL want to find the bike that suits your body type the best.

The honda is always a good bet, especially for a learner bike, the question is how many years, or how well rather, have you ridden a bike? I've had a motorcycle since I was 8 and almost a decade later I still get butterflies everytime I get on it in a corner. I'm partial to the GSXR, and plan on getting either an 03 600 or the 750. The torque on the 750 is amazing, it is the smoothest most confidence inspiring ride for less than 3g's. As for the incumbancy on liter bikes, my buddy has a 2007 Yamaha R1 that dances around anything on the road with a flick of the wrist, there is no snap steer like old liter bikes. The chassis design in new liter bikes is really amazing I seriously doubt that there is much difference between them now-a-days, but I've only had the liberty of riding the R1.

there no difference in driving a 600 over a say my 954, they have different power bands and have about a 50 lb weigh difference. they both will go the same top speed, just one takes 5 seconds longer to get there. i dont believe in starting out on something small.

Dont be stupid and ride without a helmet/jacket/gloves.

Re: Help me choose a bike...
i liked my r6 better than my cbr. IMO get a a 2002 r6 because its old enough to be cheap, yet still fuel injected. I started on a 600 and never dropped it, but I've had many many near death close calls Don't get too comfortable riding the first few months or you'll die
