help, just blew up my gsr

Bought my 2000 gsr about 3 months ago, (stock except for an intake) from a private dealer and from the first day i had it CEL went on. I brought it back following day and they told me i needed crankshaft sensor, and a resinator. they fixed the sensor, but i declined to have resinator b/c it was a 50/50 warrenty and they were are clearly fukin retarded. they swore it wasnt the CAT. I went to a friends shop the day after and checked it myself, and sure enough a CAT code came up. so here it is like 2 months later. Note the car was burning good amount of oil as well, and they told me it was not.. after driving it for 15 minutes. friday nite i was driving it and it was fine. Saturday morning i drive to work and hear a knocking noise. Driving home from work it gets louder, and my car continues to shut off while driving. Had it towed and its sitting in my garage now. Knock is very loud. Cannot drive it.

I have no more warrenty on it from where i bought it, it was a 3000 mile warrenty. I am in the process of persuing the dealer. I know i spun a bearing but, Just wanted to get opinions from you guys to see what may have caused this to happen, becasue i was not beating on it. Car has 86,xxx miles on it.

thanks..

Sounds like it was wore out when you got it.

cat code, maybe from it burning so much oil that it fucked with the sensor?

a can of restore is awesome. If you have a slight knock its a great product to use to hide it for oh I dunno about 100-200 miles or so......

Oh wait. Damn.

I would delicatley ---- in his mailbox for a good 3-4 weeks for that one.

Tired motor/bad oil pump/lack of oil

I encouraged him to post on here. I was thinking pump failure or maybe clogged pickup. I'm sure that motor did NOT always have 'just an intake'. Fuel rail cover has a big melt hole on it- looks like someone put the soldering gun on it. Bumper is also cut out. Regardless, I don't think an na motor with 85k should just pop like that. Dustin doesn't have the funds to build a block so I think he's just gonna look for a gsr bottom end. Found one with 75k for 325 and one with 40k for 600 a few hours away.

Ya a stock gsr motor w/ low mileage will not break like that even beating the ---- out of it. Only time I saw a low mileage gsr get rod knock was the motor literally had no oil in it when I replaced the motor.
