Re: PIR Aftermath - No 13 :(

TurboXS MBC's suck.

my ball and spring worked way better with this internal gate.

actually the mbc is probably fine, the flaw is probably the gate itself.

anyways, i had it immediately boosting 13psi, then popping down to 12, and then proceeding to bleed off to 10psi, pretty ------ homo

So I guess at 10psi I managed these

14.11@101mph, 2.2 60'
14.16@102mph, 2.2 60'
14.23@102mph, 2.3 60'

If I coulda held a solid 12psi I coulda had my slip. Im getting some funky ---- from my car too, i think its ignition breaking up on the top end or something. fuel is good and ignition is conservative.

check out the logs, AFR in 4th gear 11.9 flatter than paris hiltons chest
http://www.centerlinemotorsports.com...s/pir-rip3.zto

oh yeah, and they wouldnt let johnny through tech so he left. new pipes look sex tho.

Re: PIR Aftermath - No 13 :(

I know you don't want to hear it but a Profec B spec II can tune out a boost spike. Mine spiked bad on MBC's, with my interenal waste gate and I used the Profec and and tuned it out. Something to think about.

Re: PIR Aftermath - No 13 :(

my cheapo ball and spring never spiked on me with the internal gate. was always solid where ever i set it at

turing up teh boost to make up for your 60' . good plan, poor execution.
i bet if you take 0.1 of the 60' you'll hit 13's

What turbo are you running?
Why run an MBC and not an adjustable internal wastegate from a Saab or a Volvo?

Good luck at the track!

Re: Hell yes I got my 13 on the first try tonite.

well, made it tonite.

13.99@103mph 2.2 60'

Now I need traction. That was my first pass when I got there, so they shut me down for no helmet.

A little later a friend with one showed up, so I lined up to run again, and proceeded to sit through 3 clean-ups on the track. Just before I finally got to run the guy I borrowed the helmet from tells me they are leaving after their next pass. So I got one run with the helmet, totally tanked the launch...and ran a 14.17@102mph. Poo.

Now its time for the 4puck, lsd, and slicks.... O0

Quaife LSD shaved nearly .3 off my time. Best money spent IMO. Slicks knocked off another .5

Your 13.9 "could" be a 13.1 ish nice time Fook.

yeah, i got the 20x8 slicks sitting here, obx lsd, act xtreme 4 puck, and a new tranny all waiting for the cash to get the bearings and get em in the car.

Re: Hell yes I got my 13 on the first try tonite.

not gonna want that 4 puck, it will hit HARD and break the slicks loose.

Gonna still have to baby the launch.

Why I really liked my CenterForce DualFriction, so much I bought another used one from here.

Really? Out of all the clutches I've ever used I will never use a Centerforce clutch again. Maybe the one I had was bullshit or something, but that thing was ------- gay. It had a had time holding power from a mild build 350SBC. :-\

yeah some people swear by the centerforce clutches, other people talk so much ---- about them. and goot job fookster, you should still learn your launch, try learning it on the street, and make sure to do a nice burnout before you launch, since you pegleg turn the steeringwheel left and right as you burnout so both tires will spin

Just gotta get pat to stop taking a nap long enough to come out and play with us.

Re: Hell yes I got my 13 on the first try tonite.

Oh.

On the subject of the clutch, I wanna hear some opinions.

Essentially I could take the pressure plate from the Xtreme, and the Disc from my HDSS and make an XTSS.

Do you think I would have better results and be happier with that combination instead of the full on Xtreme?

rota92 05-29-2005 05:29 PM

Re: Hell yes I got my 13 on the first try tonite.

It really depends on what you want, my friends H22 in his hatch has the XTSS. I can't stand to drive it as I like the quick release and harder hit. For me easier engagement means more time to screw up.

As the previous owner of the clutch I loved it. I have driven the centerforce, exedy, various other ACTS, and clutch masters, none have been as sweet as this.

MY RPS was great for 4 miles, and I am sure I will love it more than the rest once I can get it running again.

It's up to you, but breaking the slicks loose shouldnt happen once you find the sweet spot.

good to hear some info on it from experience with it. I might just go for it.

Recipe for hawt launches with that clutch on streets

1. Have the car around 3 grand
2. Wait to see 2nd Yellow, go on
3. Give it some more gas and start to let clutch out
4. Once rolling dump it or stay on A LITTLE if you have too
5. Welcome to 2.2 60' EVERY time

I know 2.2's arent awesome, but this is wicked consistent and great for brackets

pat has 1/2 of each of the two clutches i have. his pressure plate is the xtreme, like my 4 puck setup, and his disc is the SS street disc, like my HDSS. His is the XTSS, Xtreme Plate, Street Disc.
