I was an MECP installer years ago...JVC is absolute garbage IMO. If you just want something that plays some music without a good sound quality, then it'll work ok. If you're looking for total sound control that will give you crystal clear sound, stay away from JVC. There's a reason they're so cheap...motorized faces on them tend to stop working after a while too.

So what you are saying is they are fine for me, and try to avaoid the motorized faceplate units. Gotcha.

Motorized face plates are garbage period. Same with those chameleon face plates. I have had Aiwa, Blapunkt, Pioneer, Panasonic, JVC, and Sony. By far my favorite was the JVC. The Panasonic's started to mess up and not recognize the face plate. The Sony, well most Sony car electronics these days are junk. The only ones I never had problems with were Pioneer and JVC.

i bought a eclipse deck off a friend that came in a car that he bought from the auction thats needs to be reset but cant get them to do it because i have no proof from the original owner that i bought it. guess thats a good security feature but a real pain in the ass.
i've always been a huge fan of kenwood, have never once had a problem with them.

my last two cd players were pioneer (different models), and they worked great except a couple months after purchase both sometimes have trouble ejecting the cd. Sometimes after a couple tries it works, but half the time I have to pop the faceplate off and pull it out manually. Pain in the ass, I wouldn't buy another pioneer now
