Chiggers are those little bugs that attack your ***** and cause big itchy red spots to form on your nut sack, also known as redbugs. You get them from spanish moss and other things.

Chiggers are in the mite family and are attracted to heat, don't know the specifics why they go straight for the nuts.. I usually find them on my legs. Chiggers are found in rural and wooded areas, where there are animals, there are ticks & chiggers.
Contrary to popular belief, chiggers do not burrow into your skin, but they bite you and you immediately swell up (giving the visual effect of the chigger burrowing into your skin). Chiggers consume their meal (of your blood) then drop off to lay eggs - very similar to ticks. I would have to guess that the average chigger is about .5-1.0 mm in size.
