I agree with the above 2 statements 100%. I heard somewhere that it takes like GM 12 hours to swap over an assembly line from making one car toe th next and it takes Honda like 1-2 or something like that.

I feel that it all boils down to efficiency and who made good decisions. in the 80's GM scoffed at japan and the Economy compact market, they said lets just take a few things we already got going and stick em in a FWD platform. and thts what they did to give the abortion of a citation, which later inspired the jbody bullshit. Its like instead of GM going "Okay lets make a "Camaro" for the compact/economy market" and really trying to create an original competitive car they just said "well this will work"

GM has the attitude of "we are GM, we cant ---- it up."

and food for thought for all the "Ford will survive" folks, doesn't Ford have more in Other odd ball brands right now? I know they went on a buying spree like late 90's early 2000 or something and bought up Jag and all sorts of ----. which owns more GM or Ford and how will it play a part?

All 7.65 anymore is non-corrosive. My supply was made in the 70's and 80's.

I had no idea Ford/GM/Chrysler are paying their employees that much. When I worked at Honda in Marysville the starting pay is $18 dollars and hour and you can max out in over 2 years $25 dollars an hour.
They should have gotten a pay cut along time ago...

And its more than just bolting nuts into a car..that ---- is hard work doing it repetitive work to over 400 cars.

Of course it's repetitive, but I'm willing to bet it's a job 90% of high schoolers could accomplish, and they would be completely satisfied with $18 an hour.

Sure it's boring and repetitive, but it's still too much pay.

when i say "repetitive" I also mean constant stress to your body and joints. Have you ever worked in a plant before??

Down here in Dayton there are GM line worker retirees who live in the same neighborhoods as doctors and lawyers with just as huge houses. It's crazy stuff.

A couple, actually.

You aren't forced to work the job. If you can't handle it or think the money isn't sufficient, someone else will be happy with it.

The point is that there are people that would gladly take the jobs for much less money, and there's no reason to pay that much.
