To add, just like all the Toyota employees that are happy with their $18 an hour to do repetitive stuff all day.

It may not be enough for the harsh repetitiveness for you, but there aren't a shortage of workers that would be satisfied with it.

$18/hr is okay if you are the sort of person who works 40 hours a week. I prefer to develop an over inflated sense of self worth and make the same money off of working ten hours a week.

I think you were missing my point. I was agreeing The american companies were getting over paid but the right amount was 18-25 dollars and hour.

Working in a plant making cars wears down your body. You are in akward positions using body parts you never thought you had before.
I did rear mount
radiator hose
front rear mount
extenstion
shifter installations
to over 400 cars in 8 hours a day. you don't have time to make sure you do it right you prob only have a 10-15 second window then boom! the next car comes along. Plus you don't want to slack because if you do your job slower than the guy next to you your slowing down the line. Doing that constantly to over 400 cars a day for 40 hours a week will ---- you up I don't care what you say. There people that work at honda thats been there for over 20 years and its put alot of beating to their body.

My point was that getting paid $70 dollars an hour is too much but $18-$25 is just about right.

and i didn't mind it it takes and average 1-2 months for your body to get use to it but you still get sore at the end of the day. I left because it was all the way in ------- marysville and that was like an hour drive having to be there from 6:30am-3:30 pm. Plus at that time gas was well over $4.00 a gallon and i was driving a Trooper at that time. So i said "---- that"

Its a hard job and probably one of the hardest job I've had all my life because you have to be fast, perfect, and take the beating because you effect the entire employees in the plant and if your holding them up you'll get bitch at. If you don't do your job right you get bitch at. and you only have 10 seconds to do it.

So $18 dollars is just about right for that job. $70...not so much :P

Re: happening faster than you thought

The whole $70 figure is with all benefits included and wages. So don't compare $18 at honda with $70 at GM

Honda/toyota people probably make more like $40 an hour after benefits. Because they don't have crazy pensions and lifetime health care and all that ----.

dragon 02-26-2009 01:35 PM

either way they are still getting overpaid

It's already been stated earlier in the thread that the $70 figure includes all their benefits.

But:

Toyota/Honda/etc don't give you health insurance for life or some crazy retirement plan.

Re: happening faster than you thought

yeah i know. I don't know about toyota but with honda even if you get injured while on the assembly line it still takes two weeks to get approved for disability pay too.

all the bitching by republicans and some democrats alike about the election and "socialist" nation we alledgedly live under now is the same as ignorant backwoods southerners STILL
bitching about the outcome of the civil war......it's over...get over it.

instead of complaining and doing nothing, how about use your creativity to CONTRIBUTE to the plan that has been put into action by the majority of your country?

You may not like it but complaining about it does nothing. There is no such thing as good without bad or bad without good. find the positive in your apparent negative situation and run with it.

This kid has fought in two wars, raised two children on his own with no child support, food stamps, or government assistance. Worked as a public servant in the worst of ghetto's up to the richest of the rich and everything in between.

Stupid? up for debate.
kid? I'd like to think not.

However I have certainly earned my right to my own opinions. And the wisdom to respect all others for theirs...if I agree with them or not.

why should i do anything for "society" and what the ---- does that have to do with anything? you should move to europe. you can contribute all you want to "society" there.

who did you fight to defend my freedom? how could you have done that?

my freedom is not granted to me by the US government, the bill of rights, or any other government. my freedom is given to me by god, and no one can grant or take it away.

you fought for our country, not for my freedom.

Have you EVER spent any time at all outside of this country?

I stated I fought for you're RIGHT not your FREEDOM
I'll break it down for you.

Freedom = what you said. not given. a god givin right

Feds not knocking down your door, arresting you and executing you for simply publicly sharing your opinion which is obviously anti-current administration.(IM NOT SAYING YOU ARE WRONG!!!)

= Government granted "right"

I Just don't think you comprehend the point that I'm trying to get accross. I would never have the audacity to tell another human being that his/her political opinion is WRONG, who am I? I'm simply stating that for someone such as yourself that is so obviously bitter about the current state of things, their are better ways in which to channel your obvious passion for the subject than lash out in anger towards anyone who's opinion differs from your own.

On a political forum such as on cnn.com you will find no shortage of people in which you can bitch, insult, and complain to until your hearts content, however as I'm SURE you are undoubtedly aware, HMT is lacking on enough people that really give that much of a ----.

Are you looking for people that you can sway THEIR opinion
or
Are you looking for people that will substantiate YOUR opinion?

rights are not granted by government. you fighting in iraq did nothing to stop the fed from breaking into my house and killiing me for doing something they don't like. they do it now, and they will continue to do it.

...seems to me the feds already do what you said. you obviously didn't succeed when you were fighting for my so called government granted rights.
