The galant vr-4 is a DSM, 4g63t awd, just like an eclipse from those years, potential for number is endless, potential for breaking is guaranteed.

Guaranteed, huh... ::)

But yes it is the same ish as an eclipse, with the sleeper factor involved. No one expects it to be fast, it looks like a granny car :y

Re: greatest import ever made no matter waht year

it was like the luxury evo for those years it was out. It's a DSM for like Dav said "potential for numbers is endless, potential for breaking is guaranteed" One was featured in a SCC acouple of issues ago for 90's imports compared to the STI and EVO. The VR-4 looked nice and a bunch of fancy parts but it killed itself everytime it was on the track.

Well you know high powered DSM's spend more time in the shop than the track. :l

eh, I knew a kid with a pretty nice Galant and the only time I saw him really putting some man hours into it was swapping turbo's. Never heard him complain about it breaking or anything, and it runs in the low 13's last time I heard...

Yeah I had a friend with a Talon TSi, minor mods, high 13's car, never had a problem. As soon as he sold it the kid cracked the block....then the other guy I know with a 2nd gen, 6 bolt swap, some turbo upgrade and some other mods, was constantly breaking.......so go figure I guess there's always a few good ones, but as history tells, most DSMs will break.

according to motor trend magazine, one of the best 20 cars of the last 20 years is the Subaru WRX, so I will go with it, wonder why :D, until you swap the turbo and break 2nd and 3rd and have to pay about $2,000 to fix it :'(, but after that it's all good.

Kinda reminds me of a pinto wagon. My parents used to have one when they were just married and it burnt to the ground and it didn't even get hit in the rear. Thank god otherwise I wouldn't be posting. No comments needed. :P

It's like the reverse. If you buy a domestic car it's made someplace else and imports are made here. My wife's Focus was made by one of Julio's cousins.

Re: greatest import ever made no matter waht year

if the galant VR4 has the same motor as the 3000 GT VR4 then its a V6 twin turbo (3000 GT is AWD), 315HP and almost matching torque. they are high maintanance, but they are worth it because if you keep it nice, they hold their value extremely well. They are hard to find, and never cheap. I'm looking at a VR4 right now, its like 12,500 (56k miles tho).

Re: greatest import ever made no matter waht year

I would say skyline GTR but it was never imported so its not qualified, BMW are the worst imports I ever seen so they dont qualified. toyota supra TT don't know much about them cant coment. honda NSX I would say but its N/A honda S2000. ---- a porcshe they are overrated, ---- a ferrari they are too expensive and my friend with a stock evo8 spanked on at the track at 12.2 1/4 mile. AUDI S4 I beat one at 12 psi.

so I guess the best import is a nissan 300ZX TT or maybe its a Ist Gen eclipse, who knows all imports are good

stillnoturbo 05-23-2006 02:01 PM

Re: greatest import ever made no matter waht year

The Galant actually came with a V6 TT but never came here. It used to be my favorite car in the first Gran Turismo. The older VR-4's came with the 4G63T that came here in very limit amounts.

Not to be lame but, the Honda Civic, they are cheap, run just about forever depending, have great potential, get great gas mileage, come in a variety of styles (CRX, Coupe, Sedan, Hatchback, Wagon, and the Del Sol being whatever the ---- it is) and just about everybody in the world could recognize one if they saw it. As far as performance import I would have to say either the Skyline or Evo, they both have vast legacies on the street, strip, and track and have withstood the test of time.
