512kb isn't that bad, it wasn't until the latest generation units that a big L2 was common. For a forum that subsists on P3s and P4s at discount rates this definitely gets the job done.

yes, because word processing, surfing the net, and other ---- like listening to mp3's is soo damn cache intensive.

Use one of the Atom laptops and you'll see what I mean. Slow startup times make it seem like you're running a 700mhz Celeron.

It loads as fast as my T8300 T61, faster than my 3.2Ghz P4 desktop clocked to 3.9 Ghz which, although dated, is running top of the line ---- from that era like the motherboard that set more P4 OC records than any other motherboard or IIRC all the others combined.

If you don't need one now look at buying them before school starts in the summer. Most states / communities wave all sales tax on them along with being on sale. Newegg had the god damned mother ------- bomb dropped on the $400-450 laptops on black friday. Missed some real good ----.
Werd on adam sucking. Core2 duo rocks in laptops. Especially the cheap ones with BS video. Traded my single 550 for the same model (Dell 1525) with a core duo on black friday. The P4 would decode 720p video okay. Skip afew frames maybe once every 10min if I wasn't adjusting the picture, but the core2 duo isn't struggling at alll with 1080p.
Anyway IDC what it is, if there isn't multiple processors it's blah.

i had the acer with the atom, that processor is a piece of bullshit only barely good for internet, i think its ment to be in smartphones not minature full feature laptops.

i wanted to like my netbook, but it kinda sucked. also i belive that processor benchmarks more like a pentium 3, my aspire1 had a 3 cell battery too and it was good for about an hour. not sure what those lenova come with but dont bother if its a 3 cell. after i used it for wideband readings i sold the thing.

pretty sure those acer aspire was the 1st one out in the us with the atom but the dell mini and all the other ones are all the same ----, mine was the xp/120gb/1gb model too which seemed like a steal for 350 till i used it for a while

That is a pretty smokin deal. Dunno about the idealpad series though.
