hi guys, I need advice. I was stopped on a city street, in a line of cars, 4th car back, and a big assed dodge ram truck slid into the back of me. To make a long story short, he ended up bending the ---- out my my trunklid, shattering the bumper, rear reflectors, and bending the part of the unibody that the trunk latch catches on (1996 ford escort 2 dr. hatch). The body shop I work at said 1400 bucks, and thats cutting corners. Another body shop says 2400 bucks. I live in michigan and we have gay assed no fault here, which means that Im pretty much fucked since I dont have comprehensive, just liability. the guy was from wisconsin, and his truck is registered there to. It *LOOKS* like form michigan's website, that since he's from out of state I can sue him for the damages, but I was wondering if anyone on here is from Michigan and can provide me with advice.... Thanks.

mostlikely you will have to sue..

things you should have gotten from him were driver liscence number, vin number off the truck. and plate number

there are MANY lawyers here that would be willing to take your case up for free..

you will need plenty of pictures for court anyways.. also take pictures of the intersection where you hit..

Don't fix it...I mean...it's a Ford Escort the guy was doing you a favor. Sue him if his insurance doesn't pay for it and get a better car.

I've got picutres, ad a phone number, and yes, teh police came and filed a report. IVe found all the parts I need for under 400 bucks but paint is whats going to kill me, and I do work at a body shop.

Who cares about paint..look at my avatar That sucks man, your state must really be gay with insurance, wouldn't that consider your car totaled and then insurance pay you for it or anything...I mean 96 escort isn't worth much (no offense, just the truth) My gf rear ended a blazer and I fixed her 98 zx2 for about $500 it was kind messed up but there was tons of parts in the yard for it...I'd say sue the dude see what money you get and if enough just buy a new car...why go through th hassle of fixing it unless you have to...get anther escort and then you have a spare motor for when you turn up the boost!!

its worth about 1800 bucks.. Im a month away from turboing this thing finally after 2 years of saving cash for parts... If I come this close and then have to buy a new car/shell out half of it to get it fixed, Im gonna kill soomething.
