got boost!!!!

i finally got to drive my car with boost tonight thanks to the new bin from xenocron (thanx again!) it feels great, pulls hard, and seems strong, i still have a few issues though :( it cuts out at 6k rpm, and my rev limiter is set at 8k rpm, and i dont think its boost cut at 8 psi? also its kinda weird but when i shut my key off and pull it out theres like a 3 second delay befor the car shuts off, wtf is that about? oh my set up for those who dont know is....

Re: got boost!!!!

sounds like boost cut actually.

look into ng48, done right it can get rid of boost cut.

i have an ng48 bin file im running now, map was made by xenocron, and at 8 psi you can get boost cut? anyone know anything about the car staying running after i shut the key off?

i never knew how much of a luxury it was to have a father in law install and custom make my exhaust..

Once i got on this site, i learned to appreciate that.. Open DP sounds like butthole.. almost has bad as open header.. lol

Props on boosting the b16.. I can't afford to boost my z6 =\...

well.. I can, but my wife won't let me! :'(

it does sound like butt hole, except when your bouncing off that launch controll, sounds like a ------ race car >:D

Re: got boost!!!!

alec's zc still boost cut at 8psi, boost cut on that turboedit stuff was odd.

and he would still cut on an ng48 xenocron gave him called ng48-rory-something.

do your column headings show correctly in turboedit? cause the one he gave us that didnt show correctly, didnt work.

Re: got boost!!!!

To see if its boost cut, just floor it at 5k and hold the car at the same speed with the brake until the boost comes all the way up.
Does it cut at 6k if you rev it in neutral while moving?
Almost sounds like the cold rev limit. My wagon was sensative to it, even when fully warmed. A friend of mines car also would hit the cold limit sometimes, even when hot.
Good luck with it.

Boost cut is HOT

Re: got boost!!!!

There is a new TE 2.5 something and new Rom's NG-55's etc.. look into those.
I never had boost cut issues with NG48 boosted 10-11 psi fine.
Does the power drop drastically at 6K? or does it feel just like it isn't pulling so hard?? maybe a bigger turbine would cure it if it was the second one.

Re: got boost!!!!

it feels like it wont rev any higher! it still has power to be had up above 6k rpm, but at 6k rpm it just starts sputtering and wont rev any higher untill i dump it into the next gear, and i can rev it past 6k rpm in nuetral cruising....could inaccurate coulmn headings do this? cuz mine are fucked...how do i fix it, last time i tryed to fix it by copy/pasteing the values into another ng 48 bin with accurate column headings the car wouldnt even run ??? oh and i already tryed leaning it out by 10% above 6k rpm thinking it was a rich condition, but that only made it worse....

Re: got boost!!!!

You can't copy/paste ng48 maps into ng55. The columns are different. You'll need to make a converter ------sheet, or just steal one from http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewtopic.php?t=4973

Yes, it sucks. However, the columns should be accurate and stable from ng55/TE2.5.x on.

It sounds like you need to work on your boost tune. It also sounds like you're blindly playing with fuel values; get a wideband and you should have no trouble solving your problem.
