I know no intercooler, id rather jsut get it boosted first... and this amount of money is doable... suggestions/ and opinions i have a d15b2 mpfi swap, z6IM, si cam... |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
ching chong turbo, manifold that will crack, thin piping for dp that will probably break (assuming that it fits in the first place), ching chong BOV that is hit and miss, and a wastegate that will stick and smoke an engine assuming the turbo kit will hold up long enough to actually see boost.
|
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
I'll sell you a brand new intercooler for $80 + shipping.
btw, your muff is crooked |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
what do you mean about that manifold, it has already been braced so its good for a long time. dont be telling people ---- you know nothing about

Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
ok good to hear, i dont want to be wasting my money; basically i want to turbo my car spending less than $400. So i figured this is the place to come
tell me what I need, whats a good turbo for my little 1.5l d-series, oil fittings, what bov, whats a good manifold to use... please guide me. i drove my friends Audi 200 and it convinced me to go turbo.... |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...m300233303892& i jsut want eveything in order, last time i was attempting a turbo kit; the headaches were just too much |

I suppose you could do $400 if you founf everything slowly getting great deals on stuff and finding junkyard parts, but not from eBay. |

TiAL 38mm gate = $190 HY-35 = $241 Racing solutions ---- for DP and new hot side piping = i dunno $100 Decent magnaflow muffler and summit resonator = $65ish 38mm wastegate gaskets and flanges, T3 flange, adapter fittings so i could use my current stainless lines, couplers, 4" vband ---- for my downpipe... it all ------ adds up... get a rope. |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
ok well maybe i should state my goals a little better.
I have a d15b2 mpfi swap with z6 IM, si cam, AEM cai, hdr,; u kno a proven setup... its putting down 120-125whp this car isnt going to last forever but I want to have some fun before its gone...and I always wanted to go turbo, but my goals are modest. I only want about 6psi of boost I could forgo a BOV to keep cost down, and run no intercooler all the fab work can be done by my brother (except the dwnpipe) Now, tell me a good mani, turbo, etc for these goals... My injectors are peak/hold a6 injectors (240cc), brand new fuel pump... this is HMT, so i figured a 400 dollar turbo setup would b doable.... |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
the d15b2 is a proven setup? holy crap i didn't know that the dualpoint pos motor was good for anything except sitting in the garage collecting dust.
also how do you know it's putting down that much hp? why can you brother do all the fab work except the downpipe? is the downpipe different then the other fab work? you ask what a good manifold for your goals are but you don't tell us your goals. i say a 14b turbo, hf manifold w/adapter, a 1g dsm bov,dsm or vw side mount, ching chong wg, some bluetops, and a basemap from steve. make your own downpipes and other pipes you need. you can get your flanges through our sponsors i have a audi side mount you can buy $55+shipping, i might have a 14b, hf manifold and adapter plate for sale also. you are welcome, now search before you post. |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
Where's hotrex when you need him?
|
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
wow u guys are harsh
also its not dual point, I converted it over to MPFI, its running the pm6 ecu and si cam 2 degrees retarded, the whp is estimates from similiar setups and are modest... 120whp... the car is definetly quick, Im running the si tranny. Pulls great right upto 7200rpm. Ive beaten b16 coupes, then i told the guy its a sohc, and he wouldnt believe me... |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
ah and my goals are
a torquey setup, low end power, 6-8 psi would be good... Id be happy getting it to run 14s, Im more interested in torque right now. I know the only way to achieve it, is with boost. |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
you still have the dual point motor, you just don't have the dual point stuff anymore. you didn't change the motor at all.

You mean well, but you haven't the first clue about the practical aspects of DIY turbocharging and you definitely are in a fantasyland of bullshit tech-that-isn't-tech from reading forums. Trust me, you can not build a $400 turbo setup your first time out without an experienced person holding your hand through it. Your best bet is to spend a grand and make things easy the first time through, or spend $400 now and have $1200 in it after you swap out bunk used turbos three times and upgrade shitty silicone couplers, etc, over a period of six months before you get a semi-reliable 170-180 whp B2. You pay your money, or you pay your dues, and sometimes even experienced guys like me get fucked on the deal and wind up paying money AND paying more dues. You can go into this on a budget and do a good job, but if your budget is $400 with your current experience then you better not get all butt hurt by the results - you better man up and make the car run correctly. |
Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
idk
you ever see, Mr. Bone's d15b7.... I followed alot of his advice, right down to the AEM y8 adj. cam gear on the si cam to compensate for the 1/2 tooth error.... the car is fast, def putting out more than yr said guess of 95-100whp.... :-* |

People provide factual information and tips to you. You tell them they don't know what they're talking about. JD gives you more in-depth info. You say he doesn't know what he's talking about. Do you want help or do you know everything and don't need help? You AREN'T going to build a turbo setup for $400 that's remotely reliable. Your D15B7 is NOT putting out 125whp. My D16A6 IS a mpfi SI engine, not a d15b7 with SI parts added. Guess what? It was rated 106hp at the crank brand new. So, it's probably 90-something at the wheels, and way less than that now that it has 242k+ miles on it. Sorry, I'll believe a chic sucked a unicorn's cock before I believe your combination of oem parts is putting out 120-125whp. Take the information and learn from it, or go back to honda-tech and live in your tuner-world. BTW, AEM cai on a d-series (or any other, for that matter) is a waste of money. Money would have been much better spent on turbo parts... |

He's crashed at my house before, with his Civic. I spent more time on a dyno last week than you will ever spend in your life, and I have a good idea what a stock bore D-series is capable of. If you doubt me and want to throw Bone in my face, feel free to link him to this thread and see who he agrees with. ::) |

Re: is this a good deal or not, be honest, im new to this
I want to do a turbo setup cheap all you do is shoot me down, I'm asking for 6psi t3 turbo and its just ridiculous. I mention bone because 120whp (depending on what dyno) is realistic. You say I'm disagreeing, I just figured you would be able to give more insight then has been displaced...
