Going to Vegas... best way to book a hotel?

Direct with the hotel's website? 3rd party website? Who needs sleep when you have hookers and blow?

Last minute haggling with the night auditor FTW. If they've vacancies and the rooms are obviously going to go unsold for the night you can get them for 25% of asking price.

so JD, your saying to book the flight to vegas only, then call when you get there to the hotels and then lowball them on their room rates?

sounds like ------- craigslist.

Flamingo FTW. right in the middle of the strip for less than $200/night

If your broke the old part of the strip circus circus area is the cheapest route. The orleans is also cheap about3 miles east of the strip on Tropicana. My old apartment was across the street from the orleans

I've been browsing Travelocity and there are some pretty good deals... Harrah's and Paris are both like 80/night or so... damn good deal it seems.

I'm not going until April, so I have time to plan and hopefully get some early booking discount of some kind... not really sure what the best angle is.

Maybe I'll just gamble, hope the economy gets shittier and book it closer to April. I'm not sure I can go with JD's advice and show up in Vegas without a reservation, lol. I'm a planner... it would stress me out.

No, I'm talking about putting your bags into the rental car and hitting the bar every night. When you are ready to flop walk in cold at midnight-3am and just start jewing like your name is ghettoturbo.

I'd just wait. The economy is going to scare more people into not going to Vegas in April, and you'll get a better deal. Or go the JD route and hit the Motel 6 behind Tropicana. You won't spend any time in your room anyway, so don't get anything fancy.

true. i dropped a grand on the bellagio for 3 days last year, and spent approx 10 hours there for 3 days. the motel 6 would have been so much better.

---- Orbitz and Travelocity. You can get a better deal if you go directly to the website and you don't have to sign up for some gay ass membership. I stayed at the Stratosphere for 2 nights on a holiday weekend for a couple hundred bucks a few months ago. Also booked a helicopter ride(which was short and not worth the money) .

The ride was literally like 5 minutes. As I was just getting the "oh ---- I hope I don't throw up all over the inside of this ------- helicopter" thoughts out of my head(first time flying and they had free champagne so I took advantage), the ride was over. They took us from the airport around the major hotels and right back to the airport. If I remember right it was like $65 per person so about $130. The majority of the time we were waiting they were DRILLING us on buying their stupid ass DVD of the ride. If they didn't push it so much I might have actually bought the god damn thing, but I was so annoyed by the end of it I didn't want it. They even made us watch a "safety video" which was actually about 3% safety and 97% BUY OUR COOL ASS VIDEO OR YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!! :S

It was still pretty ------- cool though. Helicopters move/fly alot different than I always thought.

Gotcha. Make sure you don't support the douchy helicopter ride company.

didnt read the whole thread, but dont go through 3rd party. use the hotels direct website and google coupons for that hotel. so like google, bally's coupon or whatever. then use the coupon on the hotel's website. cheapest way for me.
